While mum was out…

with 3 comments

A beautiful, feminine room and that’s just what the naughty kitten likes the most! She’s trying on tiara and earrings (with difficulty) and is just about to get her paws on the make-up. Let’s hope mum gets back soon 🙂

The star of the show (apart from the kitten) is the beautiful “Crawford set” by Fancy Decor. Designer, Jake, was inspired to make the set after he’d watched a scene in the television series “Feud” which chronicles the rivalry between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford when they took part in the 1962 film, “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?”. The marbled art is original and was created by Jake in Real Life using the creative method of marbling paper.

Ragnar’s Sun Room

with 9 comments

I left Ragnar to style Duvet Day’s beautiful Sun Room and this is what he’d done, so if you are going “eeek!” which I’m sure some of you will, blame the Viking!

The Sun Room is available at the Cosmopolitan Event for another week, it’s stunning piece of work by designer, Benoit, who I learned the other day hails from Sweden. So nice to see that Second Life® is such an international creative platform.

Ragnar also broke out Raindale’s Southwell gacha, also at the current round of Cosmopolitan. It’s a gorgeous thing and well worth collecting. We didn’t show the Rare from that gacha which is billed as a Garden Hideaway. This is also a very nice piece and quite large so you’ll be able to fit plenty in.

The Swamp Animals from TLC Home Collection are suitably fierce and include mangrove snakes, monitor lizards and piranha that swim in pairs – all the better for attacks.  The large chap hanging around in the tree insisted on having snake plants to match – fortunately {what next} came up with some. You don’t want to annoy that snake!

Here’s Ragnar having his portrait done.

Here’s the Home & Garden pieces I used in detail:-

La Gare vintage railway station – refurbished

with 4 comments

*~*~*

As most of Second Life® knows, the 6º Republic Event is on! An amazing Home & Garden extravaganza that happens twice yearly, the theme for this round is Destination:Europe. Each designer chose a European city to take inspiration from. DaD Design chose Paris and made the vintage “La Gare Train Station”.

The above collage shows the station empty. Its beautiful lines are undeniable with the arched windows and doors and the glass covered area for meeting the trains. I put paving under the whole build but you can see where the trains would have arrived at the station, it’s a cut-out piece. Upstairs is reached by a circular iron staircase and doors open onto the balcony where the station sign is located.

Designer, Sheerpetal, kindly sent me a copy of “La Gare Train Station” and challenged me to refurbish it as a house with garden out the back based on an idea by ace photographer and blogger JoJo Deed. It sounded a great idea so armed with lots of recent Home & Garden items by fantastic designers, I set to! Click on the pictures to get the larger sizes.

The space where the railway tracks would end is now a garden, it’s been dug over and planted.  I’ve taken a bit of artistic licence with the tree, as the roof is really glass, but maybe part of it was broken as it’s vintage and the tree could then grow through! An indoor/outdoor living space with intimate corners, seating, fountain and even a pizza kiln.  In other words, there’s lots of space to fit everything in.

*~*~*

You wouldn’t normally leave an opening so here’s a fabulous fence to fill it in.  The fence window adds style and stops the dog getting out, talk about duel purpose! Four sconce on the fence will light that area of the garden for those warm evenings when you just don’t want to stay indoors.

*~*~*

Here’s that colourful sofa, which is plenty big enough for the whole family to lounge around on, not just yours truly and the new kitten.  She’s still so small she can hide amongst the many cushions.  The table’s plenty big enough for the crockery and essential tea set.

*~*~*

Inside and downstairs, I furnished a portion of the room with an elegant new sofa set that the labrador puppy just loves, cheeky thing! So will the rest of the family as soon as we can prise him off it.  There’s even room to park a handy scooter which is great for getting around the Parisian streets.  The other side of the room has enough space for a nice kitchen and upstairs has plenty of area for a bedroom with balcony area.  You could divide that and include a small bathroom at the far end.

La Gare Train Station would make a very pleasant and unusual house for folks who like outside living as much as the indoors.

High Tea – Merry Christmas!

with 16 comments

high-tea-1

This is my Christmas post and I’d like to wish you all, dear readers and fellow bloggers, a peaceful and relaxing Holiday time ❤  Thank you so much for reading my posts, your likes and comments. I’ve made quite a few friends this year, just through blogging, it’s wonderful 🙂

So.. High Tea. It’s a bit like High Noon with cakes!  A tradition in my family – and I am really not sure which country it belongs to – but we set the table for tea in the afternoon. It’s generally the days after Christmas as nobody can manage to eat anything else after our gargantuan dinner and we all collapse on the sofa bemoaning our overpacked stomachs and attempt to thrash each other at cards.

high-tea-2

There’s generally Christmas pud, all sorts of cake goodies, crackers to pull and read the daft notices from, and a huge pot of tea!  Goodness, did I have trouble finding virtual Christmas crackers but thankfully Faith blogged them and [CIRCA] saved my table from disintegrating into family disapproval.

Santa’s Afternoon Hideaway

with 4 comments

The Elves noticed that Santa disappeared some afternoons. He couldn’t be contacted at all.  We thought he was up to something but no matter how we tried, we couldn’t find him until today – and that was only by chance!

So we were gathered around  the fire, enjoying the warmth and just being out on a cold, clear day. Looking around for some more logs to keep the fire going, I noticed a strange reddish glint in the house. Now nobody had lived there for years and although things never get shabby in Second Life® unless they are textured that way in the first place, the glimmering looked out of place.

I clicked open the door and… well!  What a lot of gossip to tell you 🙂 The room was decked out luxuriously and the glinting that had so intrigued us happened to be Rudolph’s red nose. He was annoyed at being disturbed. He’d been waiting for Santa, having made new cakes and got the tea on (Earl Grey, naturally).

We noticed Santa’s hat resting on the comfortable looking leather chair, more evidence the reindeer was telling the truth. There was a blazing fire, and it all looked so comfortable and cosy in the afternoon sun. We decided to beat a hasty retreat and go ride on the train at Kushi Textures! It’s Santa’s North Pole extravaganza for families and beautifully done 🙂

We’re not giving away the location of Santa’s Afternoon Hideaway because… well, the old guy needs his afternoons off in peace. He’s got lots to do in the coming days!
