Lazy Days of Summer

with 2 comments

This picture epitomises the sort of English summer day at the beginning of the season when the grass is still emerald green and the flowers are out in force. There’s a blissful, secure feeling as you relax in the garden with nothing to do but read the newspaper and drink lemonade. It’s one of those moments when you wish you could press a button and stop time for a while. There are many feelings in the human emotional arsenal that aren’t really named in the English language but are in more expressive languages. Here’s a few:-

Forelsket (Norwegian): The indescribable euphoria experienced as you begin to fall in love.

Wabi-Sabi (Japanese): Finding beauty in imperfections.

Gökotta (Swedish): To wake up early in the morning with the purpose of going outside to hear the first birds sing, that expectation of beauty.

Commuovere (Italian): Often taken to mean “heartwarming,” but directly refers to a story that moved you to tears.

Komorebi (Japanese): The sunlight that filters through the leaves of the trees and the feeling it gives you.

“Are we going for a Picnikerty, Mum?
Down where the gate is rickerty
And funny honey bees drink their
butter cuppa teas.
Look, I’m on my knees, please
How about a Picnikerty, Mum, quickerty!”

There’s a lot of food about Second Life® recently so I thought we should go on a picnic!

My Home & Garden Sponsors:

Raindale – Designer, Keira, has made the beautiful “Elston set”, a warm wooden pergola and bench. The Pergola is strewn with lights and has a Land Impact of 12. The Bench is a further 3 Land Impact and seats up to 2 avatars. There’s 15 poses in the bench and both pieces have Permissions of Copy/Modify. Pick your copy up at the current edition of 2nd Level. This is getting to be a great little Event, which is well worth a visit for all sorts of items from apparel to furniture to poses.

Chez Moi Furnitures – at MadPea International Food Fair until March 4th. Designer, Nanda, has made the fabulous “Farmers Market Cart Wood” – LI 13 – Copy/Modify – 6 poses including leaning nonchalantly against the cart holding a coffee! I love this piece as I can do a good nonchalant mood in general *laughs* It also has versions in White and Colour and you can do texture change on the awning.

Duvet Day – at MadPea International Food Fair until March 4th. Designer, Benoit, has made the yummy cakes here on the picnic blanket – “Strawberry Drip Cake” featuring chocolate, cherries and strawberries which not only looks yummy but is only 2 Land Impact with Permissions of Copy/Modify.   “Ice Cream Cone Drip Cake” features a variety of these culinary beauties. They are great fun and only 2 LI each with Permissions of Transfer/Modify.  “Coffee and a Muffin” tea tray. A true to life tray with coffee stains!  Click on the tray to receive an animated coffee cup. Land Impact is 3 with Permissions of Copy/Modify.

[zerkalo] using items from the “Picnic at the Neva River” gacha.
Rare – Blanket, Commons – basket with strawberries, basket with plums, tray with food, umbrella, wine and delicacies. Check out the mainstore to try your luck on this gorgeous gacha.

TLC Home Collection – “Canadian Geese Family” – Standing goose, standing gosling and swimming gosling who is scripted to keep up with mum when swimming. Here I’ve sunk the poor thing into a pillow and she was not pleased until I offered her some cake! Cake solves a lot of things lol. Available from the mainstore which is a lovely place to look around with all the animals and birds.

*~*~*

Other Home & Garden items:

Two Moon Gardens – “Hidden Heather” garden scene with river – greatly modified!

Jian – Sheltie Companion from the “Southern Shelties” gacha – he was my birthday present from Arrchie. A hilarious dog who puffs, stands, puffs, sits, puffs and digs up your garden!  Great clouds of dust will emit from his paws when he’s digging and I had to wait for him to stop while trying to take the photo.

And I’m holding a Flower Pug from the Jian gacha “Love Pugs”.  Try the mainstore or Marketplace for resellers.

As you can imagine, we had great fun making this blog post! It’s all done with pieces from 22769 ~ [Bauwerk]‘s gacha for the Epiphany Gacha Event, called “The Art Atelier”.

Not only do you get the Rare Artist’s Atelier, which is brilliant in itself and would be wonderful to decorate any way you like, but the Commons are various constituents of an art studio. That’s for artist, sculptor and potter.  Here’s the gacha Key.

22769-bauwerk-the-art-atelier-gacha-key-epiphany

The nude model podium has some great poses on it, suitably artistic in nature. I just loved the sculpted pieces, especially the unfinished detailing of them. It’s as if the statues are trying to escape from the medium of rock in which they are sculpted.

*~*~*

So since Arrchie exhausted himself painting and had to retreat to the Old Atelier Couch, I got on with the pottery.  There’s at least 4 animations in the wooden stool and one of those is where you’re shaping the clay on the revolving wheel. Great attention to detail here!

22769-bauwerk-studio-2

The garden outside is one of Two Moon Gardens  Spring releases, the “Hidden Heather” landscaped woods with stream. It has a running stream and small rocky waterfall area and oodles of plants, trees and shrubs, all of which you can move around as it’s completely modify. Yes, there’s lots of heather in it.  Hidden Heather is around 87 prims (less Land Impact) and covers a 32 by 32 m area. Buying whole gardens like this is pretty cost effective all round, and if you can move the plants and pieces around so you can fit objects into the scene, it’s even better.

Here’s info on The Art Atelier gacha pieces in detail:

The Tale of Maplemoor Woods

with 10 comments

raindale-maplemoor-gacha-the-crossroads-event

You won’t find Maplemoor Woods on any map, try as you might. It’s a secret place and you can only get to it through a portal. This portal lets through children and those grown ups who still retain the magic of childhood in their hearts. Maplemoor exists in an eternal late spring where young animals and birds are born and brought up, they make their home in the woods. But they’re not like any creatures you’ve seen before. For instance, they really appreciate afternoon tea! They’re not always polite, as you’ll see in the pictures – the bullfinch has landed on the teatime cake and is not even waiting for his slice to be cut.

raindale-maplemoor-gacha-2-the-crossroads-event

Afternoon tea is presided over by the Great Horned Owl, who can move his head all the way around. This is useful to check on visitors who may want an extra place at the table. The mother deer keeps an eye on the proceedings, she has her favourite bridge so she can see everything going on and even if afternoon tea should take place at midnight, she can switch on the lamps. Time has very little meaning in such an enchanted place. Poppies and flowers bloom all the year round and the poppies are not only red but all colours of the rainbow. The ones you see here are yellow.

The kingfisher sits patiently on the portal, his large beak is useful for pulling visitors through, but no doubt he’ll be getting his slice of cake later on. And there’s always a wishing well. Not only for water – as there’s no rivers in the woods – but the well grants wishes to visitors and inhabitants of Maplemoor alike. But be careful what you wish for! And don’t forget, you’ll need an extra wish to get you back home 🙂

Brave New Year

~ Brave New Year ~

“The old year slips away into the past
fading through the obscure as the Shadows take it
For it’s unvisited in the vivid, eternal Now.
And all the New ahead, an unopened gift of hopes and expectations
Much patronised by fortune tellers as they gaze through an overcast mirror
mercurial deep and try to map the implausible.

What a journey to be taken, along with fools and friends
The parallel of our hearts set on the narrow way
Our voices whisper comfort or scream cacophony
The scuff of our feet as we are dragged along, willing and unwilling
Onto the intoxicating plains of the Future.

And if we did know the outcome of such happenings, would we take one step?
That first brave step along the flagstones into an unknown garden
The borders filled with nettle and lotus, tended by wasp and honey bee
Apple trees and desert cacti scraping the sky, their progeny choked or sprouted into a thousand possibilites.

Don’t we all wander the wonders to come?”

The Spoonful of Sugar Festival – Home & Garden 2

with 8 comments

two-moon-gardens-water-pump-patch-4

Post 2 for The Spoonful of Sugar Festival which is on now and runs to September 25th.

All monies will be going to the American office of Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), an international organization that provides emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from health care regardless of politics, religion or other affiliations.

Today, we’ll be looking at landscaping designs and full gardens from Two Moon Gardens and a gorgeous Songbird Collection from TLC Home Collection.

As Autumn draws near, it’s a great opportunity to landscape your garden in seasonal colours, flowers and landscaping.  Two Moon Gardens have released “Overgrown Glory – Autumn 1”, a stunning complete garden which you just rez on a suitably sized piece of land. Overgrown is 20 by 20 metres and 94 LI in all. It’s very beautiful and when you sit on the bench and look around at the trees, plants and hard landscaping you’re enthralled!

two-moon-gardens-overgrown-glory-autumn-1

There’s a central paved area onto which autumn leaves drop down, and this is surrounded by water features of fountains and troughs, a jolly good outdoor fireplace for those colder days and a bench from which you can laze and contemplate.

Further outwards, there is a plethora of flowers just on the point of going over from the summer growth, or else spreading like mad as flowers do when you don’t curtail their activities! Then on the periphery, there are three magnificent trees in Autumn leaf with shrubs at the side. Just beautiful.  Also included in the set are a couple of extras – Sunny Days Nature sounds and Water Sounds (touch on and off). The bench has 5 sits female, 2 sits male, couples 7 cuddles. Permissions are Copy/Modify.

Also from Two Moon Gardens is the “Water Pump Patch”. A stand alone landscaping piece that can be easily incorporated into your garden, the pump has a Land Impact of 14. Flowing animated water rushes from the rusty iron pump down into a couple of collecting pools.

two-moon-gardens-water-pump-patch-3

two-moon-gardens-water-pump-patch-1

There’s clusters of flowers around the pools and cute animated butterflies sort out nectar. You get extra water sounds that can be turned on and off at a click. Permissions are Copy/Modify.

No garden is complete without songbirds!  TLC Home have an absolutely enchanting set of animated, singing birdies. There’s a robin, a starling and a blue tit. They can be separate or rezzed with all three of them on a single branch.

tlc-home-songbirds-collection-on-branch

The volume of the singing can be controlled simply. Here’s the birds in close-up. They are 1 Land Impact each, the branch is another 2 LI, so you can have many of these in a garden, all singing away merrily.

Last, but definitely not least, is a magnificent landscaping garden from Two Moon Gardens and this is called, “Graceful Falls – Autumn”. It is big – 45m by 50m – but well worth the 186 prims. Just look what you get!

The entrance is via stone steps (side grass bank included) which lead up to the central section. There are four water features surrounding a paved area, pillar vases of autumn flowers decorate the scene.

two-moon-gardens-graceful-falls-autumn-side-1

The water is flowing and animated, sparkling and beautiful. It makes the whole garden spectacular. At the back of the garden there’s a smart stone wall with feature trellis that sports a central archway and this is festooned with ivy and autumn flowers to match the central pillar vases.

two-moon-gardens-graceful-falls-autumn-side-pathways

two-moon-gardens-graceful-falls-autumn-through-the-gate

Around the edges, there are stone terraces, with occasional flower troughs, shrubs with grating containers and a welcome bench from which to view all the finery. Graceful Falls – Autumn would not only make a fantastic central feature for a park or large gardens but I think it could also be the scene of special occasions such as weddings and christenings. Permissions are Copy/Modify.
