An Island Resort

with 8 comments

A couple has arrived at a secluded Island Resort, maybe on their honeymoon, and while they’re in the bathroom, we can have a look at their bedroom. It’s quite early in the morning and because it’s so hot, they’ve left the door out onto the balcony wide open. Crisp cotton sheets, perfect customer service and luxurious décor are just two of the reasons why this resort got a five star rating!

If only! Still, at least in SL® we can dream. The room is an upper floor bedroom that leads out onto a gorgeous balcony, and it’s not the only one in the latest prefab by Galland Homes, this is the Cape Hatteras. I’ll do another post very soon to show you the rooms and the outside but take it from me, you could do worse for your summer vacation home.

Most of the decor is from unKindness. It’s the Island Resort gacha and you can try your luck on this at the June edition of Collabor88. Lots of nice animations in this bed, including a great couples sleep Menu, for the ultimate in laziness.

I also loved these new lanterns from Granola., you’ll find them over at UBER, which has recently started its new round but you can get in now without too much trouble. They come in various colours including this light blue which matched the bedspread perfectly.

Here’s the Home & Garden products I used today, in detail:-

All all that Jazz

with 10 comments

KraftWork will bring out the “Shotgun Jazz Club” gacha on Friday, with the release of the new edition of Pocket Gacha!  There’s a fantastic Jazz Club building with furniture to fill it, you’ll be spoiled for choice. In the picture above, the boss is auditioning a new band before the club opens later on that evening – and they’re doing very well 🙂 As you can imagine, this is a great roleplay gacha.

A little bit of history – because of the extreme hot weather in New Orleans, the French came up with this architectural solution that allows a house to have no aisle at all: one room at the front, one at the back and a space in between, so they could open front and back windows and let the air flow to cool the little house.  KraftWork’s Jazz Club building does not have back windows due to prim limitations but that’s how shotgun houses originally worked.

Here’s the boss on the piano…

…and on the drums. To get your Pocket Gacha HUD you can either wear the previous edition HUD and then you’ll trigger a new HUD to be sent to you, go to Pocket Gacha Mainstore and pick up a new HUD there, or go to Marketplace for your new HUD.  Don’t forget that the new round will begin on Friday 15th September and will appear like magic on your HUD then.

Flatiron Afternoon

with 6 comments

The Flatiron District is a neighbourhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan, named after the Flatiron Building at 23rd Street, Broadway and Fifth Avenue. One hundred years ago, it was a major commercial and residential hub in the City. The Met Life Tower enjoyed a brief time as the tallest building in the world, a flock of influential people called the neighbourhood home and large department stores drew big crowds. While the area began to fade around the mid 20th century, the bones for its re-emergence in the late 1980s and 1990s remained intact. Today, the cast iron Industrial and beaux arts architecture gives the streets their historic charm and dovetails flawlessly with the new shops, restaurants and nightspots that keep sprouting up.

Newchurch‘s “Flatiron Loft Studio” is inspired by those real life Flatiron industrial lofts which have been converted into apartments. I’ve attempted to style it with suitable furniture and decor, including new sets from 22769~[Bauwerk] and also from Newchurch.

Coffee and sausage rolls await!

It’s 2.30 pm and that lazy spaniel thinks I can’t see him.

Time to muse on Life, The Universe and Everything.  If you’re going to muse, do it in style 🙂

Snow on Everything with 22769 ~ [Bauwerk]

Little Winter Cottage_large front elevation
You can have any Home & Garden item you like as long as there’s snow on it!  22769 ~ [Bauwerk] have released a number of winter sets which are superb. You’ll have to brave 3 Events to get all these but they are well worth lagging around for.

I think this is one of the most enchanting Christmas cottages I’ve seen this year and what’s more, you can get a version without the snowy roof and be able to use it all year round.

Little Winter Cottage_porch

There’s a lovely porch with open/close doors and a huge conservatory that has views to the front and side of the property. A lot of picture windows add to the light effect and make a small prefab spacious.

Little Winter Cottage_side elevation

“Little Winter Cottage”
Contains:
cottage with and without snowtop – LI 50 – 52, footprint is approx 13.0 by 14.0 meters and 9.5 – 10.0 meters in height

Little Winter Cottage_conservatory

Little Winter Cottage_upstairs

Little Winter Cottage_cottage back

The brick walls are decorative landscaping items and they have snowy and non-snowy versions for all the pieces.  Very nice texturing on these with the red brick and gray slate tops. They’d look amazing as a walled garden for very little land impact, you could use a couple of the pillars as a gateway.

Garden Walls_long

“Winter Garden Walls Building Set”
Contains:
long wall with or without snowtop – LI 4 – 6, approx 8.3 meters long,  small wall with or without snowtop – LI 2 – 3, approx 5.6 meters long,  pillar with or without snowtop – LI 2, either

Garden Walls n Snowman

Pick up your cottage and walls from Wayward Winter Market, which runs until the 2nd January.

The snowman on the bench is a Rare from the highly humorous Snowmen Gacha, available to play at The Liaison Collaborative Event which runs until 2nd January.

“Snowmen gacha”
1 Rare and 8 Commons – 3 – 6 LI, bench has 8 single sit animations
Transfer/Modify and 50L$ per play

Now for the decorations. They are available at the Tannenbaum Holiday Market Event which runs until 25th December.

Decoration Containers

“Christmas Decoration Set”
Decorative items only.
Contains:
booktree table, linked and unlinked version – LI 7 for the linked
decoration containers – small, medium, large – LI 2 each
Glassed Candle – LI 3, flame on/off via touch

Glassed candle

I particularly liked the booktree which makes a very amusing decoration for practically anywhere around the house.

Other pieces used:

Trees and Shrubs by The Little Branch

Until next time, happy shopping 🙂

Christmas Pavilion

with 4 comments

Before Christmas 2014 fades away to a mere memory, I wanted to do this post both as an personal event in my SL and as a decor project. It was the first Christmas that I shared with my dear husband and friend, Arrchie.  I wasn’t even expecting us to be in SL over the season what with our RL family obligations and all that, but it turned out that we spent a lot of Christmas together enjoying each other’s company and the company of SL friends and family – it was an amazingly joyful time 🙂

We decorated the Pavilion for Christmas as it was the only suitable empty ‘room’ we had at the time. Here’s the first Pavilion post. I think it was about 3 quarters full by the time we got everything in.

There was a wonderful amount of decor available over Christmas, both from events and special offers. The Homes & Gardens designers were on top form and on the LTD blog we were posting non stop every day 🙂  I’m a funny ole sod but I always start with a fireplace! My inspiration initially came from ‘!! Follow US !!’ with one of their seasonal fireplaces and from then on it was easy.

Christmas Pavilion fireplace

Here we are Christmas eve cuddled up on a beautiful cream leather sofa from Warm Animations – love her original animations – plus teddy sitting on the arm. Various decor from Floorplan, Cheeky Pea, N4RS, Storax Tree, Chez Moi, Bazar and Alouette. Don’t think I’ve missed anyone out but if I have, humble apologies.

Christmas Pavilion Christmas Eve

A big part of Christmas decor is to do with feasting. I loved this Christmas tea set from Robin Sojourner – a long time teacher and designer in SL.  It gave out tea and cakes and was very popular! I’m going to be forced to get a less seasonal set now as I miss its ‘host with the most’ qualities. Also the way steam rises from the teacups you’ve just poured out. It’s those little details that go towards making a great decor piece.

No Christmas room is complete without a tree. This beautiful decorated Christmas tree by Tartessos Arts came with extra gifts and a train set that went around the base of the tree – most impressive and low land impact, too. It also contained light effects, snow effects and animations. The beribboned mistletoe from Chez Moi had numerous kiss animations attached and that was also rather popular 🙂

Here’s a couple of my favorite Christmas decor items. Firstly, the reindeer carousel from Alouette. When I interviewed designer Scarlet recently for LTD she said this was one of her favorite pieces and that customers have derived a good deal of joy from it. Not surprised as I still have it up. We can have reindeer all year round, can’t we? The other is from Storax Tree and it’s one of Kate’s felines on mats. But this time – he’s cuddled up on a Holiday rug. Extreme cuteness!

That’s all for now. Cheers, m’dears 🙂
