Black Magic

with 8 comments

More on my Hamlet theme for Halloween. In this scene Hamlet, as though possessed, talks to Ophelia and advises her not to marry him.  The reasons he gives are the thoughts of an mad man perhaps… or maybe they are insightful.

“I am very proud, revengeful,
ambitious, with more offences at my beck than I have
thoughts to put them in, imagination to give them shape,
or time to act them in. What should such fellows as I do,
crawling between earth and heaven?
We are arrant knaves, all.
Believe none of us.” (Hamlet speaking to Ophelia)
~ Will Shakespeare, Hamlet – Act 3 Scene 1

I liked the phrase, “crawling between earth and heaven”, and so the scene portrayed here is something in between, something that is likely to bind you to the earth by black magic, so stopping your ascent to heaven.  The dragons crawl around and yet the light of the crystals and spells seem to cast out the darkness. Whoever has set this up has used the Summoning Circle and now they must suffer the consequences, good or bad.

The scene is set in a corner of the magnificent Ascelin skybox by VARONIS.  It’s a gloriously Gothic style building which has a large central room with three huge windows at one side and a doorway at the other. The vaulted ceiling has wooden beams which are realistically textured and very well done.  Then, either side of the main room, there are archways that lead to a couple of mirrored side rooms, each has a fireplace filled with candles.  There are also strategically placed lamps in these rooms but the overall effect is quite eerie depending on your choice of Windlight and in that way it would be perfect for certain types of roleplay.  Here’s a Slideshow as I walked around the build. The first photo shows the skybox from the outside. Inside was taken using a Midday setting (not the default one).

Vengeful Threads – Lord of the Forest

with 7 comments

“The Lord of the Forest” costume is Vengeful Threads‘ tribute to the Celtic God, Cernunnos or Hern the Hunter. An ancient Pagan deity, Cernunnos is associated with the cycle and renewal of life. He’s also known as “The Seeder”, in that he is the one who plants the seed and secures the proliferation of life. The oldest depictions of Cernunnos show him with a radiating rack of antlers. That branching out is symbolic of the expanding rays of sunlight, an agricultural omen. In this way, the solar connotation is a blessing for nourishing light, a promise for abundance in agricultural growth and harvests. This is a very male energy (as the sun is associated with male force), and a very assertive essence. These solar-antlers are also symbolic of self-expression, and radiating the divine inner light outwardly.

The costume is as you see in the picture with all parts as set –  including flexi headdress and waist decoration which moves with the fluttering of leaves on branches when the wind blows through the forest. Vivid green system eyes, and skin tattoo mean there’s no need to look for a matching skin, it’s all there in the set. A snake adorns the arm, and system corset and pants mean that a lot of avatar shapes will be able to adapt this costume.  Fashioned legs with hooves complete the look and an alpha takes care of the avatar legs. Permissions are partial Modify/Transfer.

This costume is on offer for Sinful Sunday, it’s only 69 L$, so if you like it – visit the mainstore asap because next week, it’ll be back to its original price.

Broody in 18th Century Cornwall

with 6 comments

“When the doors of perception are cleansed, man will see things as they truly are, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.” ~ William Blake ~

A bit of an arty photo to illustrate the new hair by No.Match, which is available at the current round of Cosmopolitan and an amazing themed art sim called, “The Gates of Melancholy”.

“No.Warning” is a gorgeous unisex hairstyle (try the demo first) that comes in all of No.Match’s colours; it flows over the shoulders and has a goodly amount at the back. Makes you look like you’ve got masses of hair just about under control! I really like it and have styled it kind of Poldark, a broody drama on UK television set in 18th century Cornwall. In fact, the setting would be just about right for the west country, too.

Other items of apparel:

Knight’s Set by ::GABRIEL::  (parts of a gacha but you can easily collect it on MP in the gacha resellers)

Man Trybal Necklace by *Phoebe* – a long time and underrated designer, go and have a look

Back to the sim which has been created by shelly70. It is based on and inspired by the life and works of the famous American painter Andrew Wyeth,  a visual artist who was primarily a realist painter. He was one of the best-known U.S. artists of the middle 20th century. The Gates of Melancholy attempts to emulate and elicit the feel of the watercolour paintings of Mr Wyeth.  You’ll find spots throughout the sim where you can experience recreations of some of his paintings and you can pose, take pictures and create your own art work as you like it. I found it atmospheric and was already forming stories in my mind as I looked around.

Cyber City Fashion with [VM]

VERO MODERO - Kaya jacket n pants

There’s a lot going on at Cyber City lately, so much so that it takes a lawman to deal with it! So here’s the Angel of Cyber City on the lookout for trouble and looking suitably debonair while he’s at it 🙂

Introducing four amazing outfits for men by [VM] VERO MODERO on a cyber trance theme and they could also be used in roleplay situations.

The Angel is wearing [VM]’s “”Kaya Jacket and Baggy Jeans”. All the neon yellow areas that you see can be changed to any colour by the use of a HUD, the sky’s the limit. The jacket and pants come in standard sizing and there’s a couple of alpha layers as well.  I was using the L jacket over the M jeans.

I guess this guy’s a baddie or he could have just won Mr Cyber City! He’s wearing [VM]’s “Ramsa Set” which comprises harness and pants in standard sizing, together with suspenders/braces clipped onto the waist and two black feathery shoulder pieces. I chose the M pants and suspenders/braces and the L harness.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Luke and his latest enemy are dancing with light sabres. Luke wears [VM]’s “Dark Side Set”. There’s an all in one mesh with and without cloak versions, and a pair of boots. Like the Kaya set, Dark Side has a colour change HUD and all the areas you see in beige can be changed to any colour you prefer. There is one size for the Dark Side Set with alpha.

Luke’s enemy is wearing [VM]’s “Rock Coat Set”.  One size coat, pants and boots included and the coat has a colour change HUD. I rather like this set with all the belts around the waist and the coat flowed nicely.

Harry’s Day Off with 22769~ [Bauwerk]

22769 - [Bauwerk] - Wizard's Garden 1

Every wizard needs a day off and Harry is no exception. So when Ginny takes the kids off to London to catch the train to Hogwarts, he’s allowed to lounge around the place and do the gardening. Note that he’s not getting too near to some of those weird plants even if they do need a watering!

A fantastical garden made by 22769~ [Bauwerk], it’s a gacha for the Fantasy Gacha Carnival, called – “The Wizard’s Garden”.  The Rare is the garden itself complete with ground work, raised bed and suitably atmospheric background masonry. The Wizard Garden – LI 20 – 12,8 x 13,8 x 5,2 meters

22769 - [Bauwerk] - Wizard's Garden Rare

The Commons are all sorts of strange and wondrous plants! Malum Fungi Plerumque, Malum Fungi Regium, Leve Ovum Tumulum, Dolum Faucibus. Flores Calyx Lacus, Flores Calyx Ignis,
Faciem Amplexus Noctis, Faciem Amplexus Lava, Cibus Flos Solis. Cibus Flos Gramina, Carnivore Ostium and Fumifungus. In total there are 13 items to collect, an appropriate number there and if you look up the latin, you’ll see the humour. When the shadows fall, they do begin to look a wee bit eerie. I think Harry went indoors to get his tea then.

22769 - [Bauwerk] - Wizard's Garden Plants

Later on, it’s a beautiful moonlit night and Harry retires to the library. Now we know what the plants are used for! Having cooked up some suitable pipe filler, Harry relaxes with one of the pipes from “Madame Nu’s Opium Supplies”.  Gacha #2 contains a plethora of these beautifully fashioned pipes so you’re sure to find one that suits. Harry prefers the Chain Opium Pipe – Gold, one of the Rares, but then he would, wouldn’t he? There’s 3 Rares and 9 Commons which all attach to the avatar mouth as unrigged mesh so you can move them around.  Harry’s strewn them about on the table so he can find the appropriate pipe and you’ll see they have gold, iron and silver varieties.

22769 - [Bauwerk] - Wizard Room - Harry's Evening Off

It’s not just a library full of books but gacha #3 contains wizardry accoutrements and furniture! Brilliant – it’s called “The Wizard Room”. The Rare is The Wizard Chair – LI 3 – 7 single sit animations. Then we’ve got all these Commons – The Favorite Wand. Wizards Magic Book, Pots, Wizard Ingredients, Shelf with Pots, Hourglass, Mirrorball, Glass Carafe, Wizards Big Bookshelf, Wizards Table, Wizards Small Bookshelf, Wizards Broomstick, Wizards Wand Rack, Table Cauldron and Table Candle.

Here’s some of the items close up, Harry’s favourite wand is resting in its box and a couple of the pipes are ready for more imbibing. The cauldron’s aglow just in case he thinks of better recipes!

22769 - [Bauwerk] - Wizard Room - Desk Library

Even the broom has a night off and lazes up against the windows. The house is also made by 22769 ~ [Bauwerk] and it’s called the “Saint Vivien de Medoc” available from the mainstore.

22769 - [Bauwerk] - Wizard Room - Broom

The Wizard’s Book of Spells lays open on the desk to convince Ginny that Harry has been doing some work, at least! The Hour Glass has run out and it’s almost time for Harry to put the kettle on and make Ginny some well deserved supper for when she gets back. Better jump to it, my friend 🙂

22769 - [Bauwerk] - Wizard Room - Spellz

All three gachas are only 50L per pull.

Harry was wearing a wizardly outfit from Bare Rose, a fantastic place for roleplay costumes and much, much more.

Taxi to Fantasy Gacha Carnival which is open now and runs until September 7th.

Check out 22769 ~ [Bauwerk] mainstore for more fabulous items.

Cheers, m’dears 🙂

Vengeful Oni

Vengeful Threads_Oni Mask exclusive

Oni (鬼?) are a kind of yōkai from Japanese folklore, variously translated as demons, devils, ogres, or trolls. They are popular characters in Japanese art, literature and theatre. Depictions of oni vary widely but they are generally portrayed as hideous, gigantic ogre-like creatures with sharp claws, wild hair, and two long horns growing from their heads. They are humanoid for the most part, but occasionally, they are shown with unnatural features such as odd numbers of eyes or extra fingers and toes. Their skin may be any number of colours, but red and blue are particularly common.

I think that Vengeful Threads got the Oni Mask exactly right!  My depiction is of a more shapely oni *laughs* he’s obviously not been fed for a while and is standing around waiting for his next meal to come along. The mask is original mesh, made as an exclusive for The Darkness Chamber Fair.

Not only is this fabulous mask in gold but there’s also variations in silver, red, purple, green and blue. Permissions are Copy/Modify so you can get a good fit. All I did was to enlarge slightly and reposition.

Now you’ll have to hold your horses as the fair opens on August 6th and runs until August 27th, but until then why not have a look at their blog and check out all the designers who’ll be making goodies for this event.

I’m including a landmark to The Darkness Chamber Fair but please be aware that the event won’t open to the public until August 6th.

Cheers, m’dears 🙂

Chez Moi – Salem Witches Memorial Square

leave a comment »

This is Chez Moi’s ‘Salem Witches Memorial Square’. It’s a railed around scene which contains animated spooks, trees, a memorial and benches to sit on if you dare! It even has crows circling above and it makes an amazing background to any vampire stories you may want to enact so again, terrific for photographers and roleplayers alike.

Here’s the entrance post with lamp – looks eerie already! Click on the post and you’ll get a surprise – some appropriate dancing animations are available which can be synced if you have a crowd.

Salem Set - entrance post and lamp

Here’s the crows circling above the scary trees. There is a multi sound player HUD within the scene which has a number of settings for day and night and you can switch off all sounds if needs be.

Salem Set - crows above

This is the Memorial to the Salem Witches itself and it has a black cat by the side. Also included in the set are two benches with copious single poses for male and female plus a number of couples cuddles. Also activity poses for various situations. Many poses have wearable props. The scary tree has space for 2 people to sit on it and 26 singles poses, 16 couples poses and 1 witchcraft animation. Designer Nanda has thought of everything!

Salem Set - memorial and bench

You get the scene as a coalesced object so make sure you rezz in Edit mode then you can move it around easily. The spooks move up and down, the benches are separate and can be moved within the scene easily.

Salem Set - cuddle bench

As the Salem Square lends itself to roleplay, Arrchie and me are vampire couple Louis and Lestat – it’s our interpretation and with sincere apologies to author Anne Rice – here they are greeting each other before the hunt and then afterwards when they are sated and you can guess what they’ve been up to!
