Due South

I think there’s a bit further to go to the beach, though, looking at the forest trees ‘n all!  This is the brand new prefab by Galland Homes, it’s called the Savannah and it’s a Southern style beach home.  Absolutely beautiful and yes, the porch is a wrap around affair so you get  more than your fair share of outdoorsy space.

A large home,  it’s recommended for 3072 sq m plots and has a Land Impact of 244, that’s surprisingly low for such a large and detailed property.  Double doors open onto the porch at both front and back of the house.  Downstairs, there’s a family sized room with a blazing fireplace, two other reception rooms, space for a kitchen and a powder room under the stairs – or maybe it’s a good room for Harry when he comes to stay!  The stairs are easy to traverse, even for very tall avatars. Upstairs you get a nice landing with doors off to master suite, two further bedrooms and another room which you could use as you wished, maybe a bathroom or nursery.

On the outside, the shutters have a texture change for black, blue, teal, maroon and grey. I chose the blue here mainly because I had the Ca’Pepe sofa and light from Concept} that matched up rather well.  The colours do change the character of the house, it’s surprising.  Inside, it’s quite possible to re-texture and tint the interior walls, instructions are included. The ambient shadow effect is largely transparent and baked on a plane in front of the texturable wall. Thus, you should be able to change the colour or texture and maintain the baked shadow effects by following the instructions. It is quite a cool décor at the default and so you’d be able to make it much warmer with re-texturing.  I’ll decorate one of the interior rooms this week and link back to this blog post so you can see (what a mess I’ve made of it 🙂 ).

Click on any of the interior light switches and you’ll find all the features of the home, including security.

I think this beautiful prefab is equally at home in the country as it would be down at the beach and if you check out the Galland Homes Flickr, you’ll see the blogger pictures in various environments.

Roulett3 – Majestic Garage Home

with 7 comments

P&W Design - majestic garage home - outside

In SL, everything starts with a box!  Although, this is a rather superior box and it’s called the “Majestic Garage Home” and it’s made by P&W Design.

Available from the August round of Roulett3, a monthly cycled event that shows fashion, poses, accessories and home decor. All items are new releases and some are discounted 20% – 50%. The event has just opened and runs until August 23rd. Plus – there’s special gifts for every visitor.

Back to this lovely home. Designer, Beyaz Boxen, has created this build in 100% Mesh with exclusive, realistic texturing, lights and shadows. It’s 198 prims (120 Land Impact) but that includes the furniture and a clever signs system that explains the functionality of everything in the Home. The signs can be deleted when you’ve got to know all the equipment. Permissions are Copy/Modify.

You can see this in action on the Roulett3 Platform. There’s an amazing total of 1000 Animations in this house [Pillows are PG, Bed is for Adults] and I loved how the window slats open and close to make the lounge as private as you wish.

The bedroom (and I’ve left the signs up here) has a huge T.V. screen which will take YouTube vids in fullscreen mode. The T.V. is moveable, you can watch it anywhere in the Home, the panels for it are on the floor.

The Majestic Garage Home has a good security panel and entry buttons to both doors. Inside you do get a wonderfully spacious feel. This would make a decent skybox home as well as on the ground and landscaped.

Cosmopolitan Event – last 3 days!

with 2 comments

There’s some beautiful and clever Home & Garden items at the current round of Cosmopolitan – and there’s still three days left to go and pick up those last minute bargains! I chose four designers to showcase today.

The Home Collection – “Enchanted Swans”.  One of those beautiful garden pieces that is ready to place and no messing around! As with all products at Cosmopolitan, it’s original mesh. A landscaping piece with pool, furniture, plants and – swans.

Cosmopolitan - The Home Collection - Enchanted Swans 2

Enchanted Swans is 39 LI in total with an extra 2 LI for each swan. They swim around the pool in a mirror motion and at one point meet up to form a heart shape. The bench has 11 poses, all nice and relaxed. Permissions are Copy/Modify.

Galland Homes – “Stonehurst Redux”.  Designer Robert’s new house which will fit perfectly on a 512 m plot. A great balcony and front paving area is attached and it’s 26 LI in total. Lots of prims left to furnish this spacious home.

A look inside reveals warm wooden floors, stone bricks walls in places and a floating staircase. Modern styling that actually looks and feels a lot more expansive than it measures. You can Copy/Modify Stonehurst Redux, enlarge it to suit your space.

Perfect for first time land owners, maybe a guest house on larger land. Tall windows add to the spacious effect, inside and out.

One Grid – “Stockholm Bedroom Set”.  Stunning modern styling in the Scandinavian Homes tradition. This set would look perfect in a room with bleached wood and plain walls.  The bed contains over 300 animations and has a Land Impact of 12.

Compulsion – “Wine making set”. A great decor/roleplay set to place on a patio, in a cellar or on garden decking – anywhere like that. There’s 11 pieces with a Land Impact of 20 when they are all rezzed. Permissions are Copy/Modify.

Cosmopolitan - Compulsion - Wine Making Kit 2

Just thinking, this would make quite a good historical roleplay set as well.
