Broody in 18th Century Cornwall

“When the doors of perception are cleansed, man will see things as they truly are, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.” ~ William Blake ~

A bit of an arty photo to illustrate the new hair by No.Match, which is available at the current round of Cosmopolitan and an amazing themed art sim called, “The Gates of Melancholy”.

“No.Warning” is a gorgeous unisex hairstyle (try the demo first) that comes in all of No.Match’s colours; it flows over the shoulders and has a goodly amount at the back. Makes you look like you’ve got masses of hair just about under control! I really like it and have styled it kind of Poldark, a broody drama on UK television set in 18th century Cornwall. In fact, the setting would be just about right for the west country, too.

Other items of apparel:

Knight’s Set by ::GABRIEL::  (parts of a gacha but you can easily collect it on MP in the gacha resellers)

Man Trybal Necklace by *Phoebe* – a long time and underrated designer, go and have a look

Back to the sim which has been created by shelly70. It is based on and inspired by the life and works of the famous American painter Andrew Wyeth,  a visual artist who was primarily a realist painter. He was one of the best-known U.S. artists of the middle 20th century. The Gates of Melancholy attempts to emulate and elicit the feel of the watercolour paintings of Mr Wyeth.  You’ll find spots throughout the sim where you can experience recreations of some of his paintings and you can pose, take pictures and create your own art work as you like it. I found it atmospheric and was already forming stories in my mind as I looked around.

Cheers, m’dears 🙂

Places – ‘Countryside’ at Habitat Springs

with 2 comments

Countryside - woods flowers

‘Countryside’ is a beautiful place to visit, and it’s on a sky platform at Habitat Springs so the lag is negligible.

Countryside - racoons

It’s an area created by long time resident, Dicky Spad, and he says, “Countryside is a area I created that’s a quiet place to enjoy the wildlife and the peace and tranquility of nature. It is open to the public and it’s dedicated to SL® photographers.. Please respect others while here and have fun!! Clothing is optional.”

Countryside - butterflies

Added to the Second Life® Destination Guide, Dicky has found the ‘Countryside’ visitor count increasing recently, but not so much that its impossible to find a quiet place to relax or take photos. When we visited there was only one other person taking photographs and this was in the SL® daytime.

Countryside - deer

Countryside - bear

Most of the landscaping is by Studio Skye based on the Autumnal seasonal tree sets and water prims for the pond and river. Numerous woodland animals are placed here and there and make excellent photographic opportunities. There’s also a section of cattle and farming vehicles with a red Chevy truck by the side. I took photographs on the Midday setting and got some really nice ones.  There are some nicely animated places to relax for solo and couples, including the banks of the river and a walled area containing a campfire and log seating.

Countryside - chevy and cattle field

Countryside - tractor shed

Countryside - water troughs

This is an Adult sim, clothing is optional beyond a certain point where a noticeboard advises visitors of same. The atmosphere is peaceful with a good variety of woodland bird song which adds to the effect. It’s not a huge place but what there is, is beautifully formed and would be perfect for a pleasant afternoon or evening spent relaxing with friends or as an inspiration for photography in a rural setting.

Countryside - well
