Dream Home in New Zealand

with 4 comments

KraftWork has a new house out – it’s called the “KraftWork Bach” and it’s available at the brand new round of Cosmopolitan.  New Zealand was the inspiration for this prefab with its sleek and elegant lines and wide deck out front.  It reminds me of loft living but with a more homely feel to it.  You could have it as a sky home or on a beach waterfront in an urban type background,  those are only two possibilities.  More details on the house in my information below.  Here, I’ve set it in some native landscaping which would have also had flowering Hebe bushes – if only I could have found some! Don’t forget, you can click on all the pictures for huge versions.

Nearly all of the furnishings are Donation items from Hope 4 –  RFL Home & Garden Expo 2017.  Have you been yet?  It’s a wonderful 9 sims worth of all sorts of H&G goodies and there’s also a hunt on. Each designer has provided two 100% Donation items.  Direct landmarks included in my information below.  From the Expo website, this is  a very useful guide to all the stores at the Expo so you can’t possibly get lost… can you *laughs* – HERE.

The KraftWork Bach has a delightful loft area with full views out of the glass wall. I’d find this a little too open for a bedroom myself, so have furnished it as an artist’s studio.  After all, with that excellent New Zealand light, it’d be a pity to waste it on a bedroom!

I used the back room as the preferred bedroom. Actually you could remove the divider (the other side is kitchen units) and you’d have one huge downstairs room for open living.  No sooner than I’d turned my back to check possible windlights for the photo,  the darn spaniel had leapt on the bed and gone to sleep – cheeky thing! There’ll be complaints about dog hair on the sheets now 🙂

This is a lovely area for a chillax zone! That colourful wall art you see is also included in the KraftWork Bach house.  KraftWork really spoil us with extras.  Look at the way the light falls in this picture. There’s some very clever lighting been done here, and it makes the house feel so inviting and peaceful.

While mum was out…

A beautiful, feminine room and that’s just what the naughty kitten likes the most! She’s trying on tiara and earrings (with difficulty) and is just about to get her paws on the make-up. Let’s hope mum gets back soon 🙂

The star of the show (apart from the kitten) is the beautiful “Crawford set” by Fancy Decor. Designer, Jake, was inspired to make the set after he’d watched a scene in the television series “Feud” which chronicles the rivalry between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford when they took part in the 1962 film, “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?”. The marbled art is original and was created by Jake in Real Life using the creative method of marbling paper.

La Gare vintage railway station – refurbished

with 4 comments

*~*~*

As most of Second Life® knows, the 6º Republic Event is on! An amazing Home & Garden extravaganza that happens twice yearly, the theme for this round is Destination:Europe. Each designer chose a European city to take inspiration from. DaD Design chose Paris and made the vintage “La Gare Train Station”.

The above collage shows the station empty. Its beautiful lines are undeniable with the arched windows and doors and the glass covered area for meeting the trains. I put paving under the whole build but you can see where the trains would have arrived at the station, it’s a cut-out piece. Upstairs is reached by a circular iron staircase and doors open onto the balcony where the station sign is located.

Designer, Sheerpetal, kindly sent me a copy of “La Gare Train Station” and challenged me to refurbish it as a house with garden out the back based on an idea by ace photographer and blogger JoJo Deed. It sounded a great idea so armed with lots of recent Home & Garden items by fantastic designers, I set to! Click on the pictures to get the larger sizes.

The space where the railway tracks would end is now a garden, it’s been dug over and planted.  I’ve taken a bit of artistic licence with the tree, as the roof is really glass, but maybe part of it was broken as it’s vintage and the tree could then grow through! An indoor/outdoor living space with intimate corners, seating, fountain and even a pizza kiln.  In other words, there’s lots of space to fit everything in.

*~*~*

You wouldn’t normally leave an opening so here’s a fabulous fence to fill it in.  The fence window adds style and stops the dog getting out, talk about duel purpose! Four sconce on the fence will light that area of the garden for those warm evenings when you just don’t want to stay indoors.

*~*~*

Here’s that colourful sofa, which is plenty big enough for the whole family to lounge around on, not just yours truly and the new kitten.  She’s still so small she can hide amongst the many cushions.  The table’s plenty big enough for the crockery and essential tea set.

*~*~*

Inside and downstairs, I furnished a portion of the room with an elegant new sofa set that the labrador puppy just loves, cheeky thing! So will the rest of the family as soon as we can prise him off it.  There’s even room to park a handy scooter which is great for getting around the Parisian streets.  The other side of the room has enough space for a nice kitchen and upstairs has plenty of area for a bedroom with balcony area.  You could divide that and include a small bathroom at the far end.

La Gare Train Station would make a very pleasant and unusual house for folks who like outside living as much as the indoors.

KraftWork – Fire Station

with 4 comments

In North America, Jamestown, Virginia was virtually destroyed in a fire in January, 1608. There were no full time paid firefighters in America until 1850. Even after the formation of paid fire companies in the United States, there were disagreements and often fights over territory. New York City companies were famous for sending runners out to fires with a large barrel to cover the hydrant closest to the fire in advance of the engines.  Often fights would break out between the runners and even the responding fire companies for the right to fight the fire and receive the insurance money that would be paid to the company that fought it.

Quite a difference in modern times;  the Fire Department of New York employs approximately 10,200 uniformed firefighters and over 3,940 uniformed EMTs, paramedics, and Fire Inspectors and the department serves more than 8 million residents within a 320 square mile area.  The FDNY’s motto is “New York’s Bravest” and the same could be said of many modern day city fire departments.

The pictures show KraftWork‘s tribute to firefighters – the Firehouse –  and it’s available at the 5th Anniversary round of FaMESHed which runs to the end of the month.

There’s 2 versions in the pack:-

KraftWork Central Fire Station (all) – LI 293 – copy/modify
KraftWork Central Fire Station (only main building) – LI 216 – copy/modify

The main building has two floors, scripted doors at the front and a working side door entrance.  It’s a beautifully observed, highly detailed building and would suit city sims and roleplay areas.

Cheers, m’dears 🙂

Woof!

*~*~*

It was a lovely sunny day so I decided to go for a walk in the park. Coming to the end of my exercise where I usually collapse onto one of the seats, I spotted this building at the end of the promenade. Well, what have we got here?

A little bit closer and I see it’s a Pet Shop! How cute and how typical that some of the puppies have already escaped. They are a right handful 🙂

You can get pet toys and pet inspired furniture and décor here. There’s even a shower for dirty dogs! How very useful but I bet they don’t think so.

You buy anything you like, as long as it’s dog related!

Listen to the radio while drinking your water! Relax in the sunshine afterwards.

I don’t know what the collective name for Dalmatians is,  except maybe “trouble” 🙂

Live, Love and don’t forget to… BARK!

*~*~*

I didn’t use all the pieces of the two gacha here so have included keys for them both.  They are at the current run of the Cosmopolitan Event which started on April 24th.

In the Back Row of the Movies

with 2 comments

“Smoochin’ in the back row
Of the movies on a Saturday night with you
We could stay forever, you and I
We could stay forever, you and I
Huggin’ and a kissin’ in the back row of the movies” ~ The Drifters

That’s a catchy song and a real feel good one, too!  It’s all to illustrate KraftWork‘s fabulous new “Palace Movie Theater”.

You’ll need 160 LI to rez this beauty.  You get a wonderful Art Deco styled building, complete with foyer concessions counter and seating. The seats have animations for male and female. 5 each if I remember rightly.  Just choose the seat you want, and right click to sit.

There are two versions included.  One is “no modify” so that if you’ve got it on a town sim, nobody can mess with the settings. In this version, the doors open automatically.  The other version is “modify” and you can change the size and textures, including the screen, even unlink parts. However, the doors will remain open so you’ll need to add a door script to get them to move.

The Movie Screen is just a prim. If you are using the modify version, you can delete it and add any movie/TV device you want so it’s nice and versatile.  The Movie Marquee (above the concession counter): here is a full perm texture so you can add your own words to it. Open and save this texture to your computer, edit with any software you have, save it and upload back to Second Life® and apply to the face of the marquee sign while editing “select face”.

When you drag your “Palace Movie Theater” from your Inventory to the ground, it will appear a few metres above it so you have some space to move it to the desirable place. Don’t panic like I did thinking, well where is it matey, just look up!

The price for this unique and original Mesh item is L$795 and it’s available at the current edition of the Draftsman Event, which runs to May 15th.

Cheers, m’dears 🙂
