Woof!

with 8 comments

*~*~*

It was a lovely sunny day so I decided to go for a walk in the park. Coming to the end of my exercise where I usually collapse onto one of the seats, I spotted this building at the end of the promenade. Well, what have we got here?

A little bit closer and I see it’s a Pet Shop! How cute and how typical that some of the puppies have already escaped. They are a right handful 🙂

You can get pet toys and pet inspired furniture and décor here. There’s even a shower for dirty dogs! How very useful but I bet they don’t think so.

You buy anything you like, as long as it’s dog related!

Listen to the radio while drinking your water! Relax in the sunshine afterwards.

I don’t know what the collective name for Dalmatians is,  except maybe “trouble” 🙂

Live, Love and don’t forget to… BARK!

I didn’t use all the pieces of the two gacha here so have included keys for them both.  They are at the current run of the Cosmopolitan Event which started on April 24th.

In the Back Row of the Movies

with 2 comments

“Smoochin’ in the back row
Of the movies on a Saturday night with you
We could stay forever, you and I
We could stay forever, you and I
Huggin’ and a kissin’ in the back row of the movies” ~ The Drifters

That’s a catchy song and a real feel good one, too!  It’s all to illustrate KraftWork‘s fabulous new “Palace Movie Theater”.

You’ll need 160 LI to rez this beauty.  You get a wonderful Art Deco styled building, complete with foyer concessions counter and seating. The seats have animations for male and female. 5 each if I remember rightly.  Just choose the seat you want, and right click to sit.

There are two versions included.  One is “no modify” so that if you’ve got it on a town sim, nobody can mess with the settings. In this version, the doors open automatically.  The other version is “modify” and you can change the size and textures, including the screen, even unlink parts. However, the doors will remain open so you’ll need to add a door script to get them to move.

The Movie Screen is just a prim. If you are using the modify version, you can delete it and add any movie/TV device you want so it’s nice and versatile.  The Movie Marquee (above the concession counter): here is a full perm texture so you can add your own words to it. Open and save this texture to your computer, edit with any software you have, save it and upload back to Second Life® and apply to the face of the marquee sign while editing “select face”.

When you drag your “Palace Movie Theater” from your Inventory to the ground, it will appear a few metres above it so you have some space to move it to the desirable place. Don’t panic like I did thinking, well where is it matey, just look up!

The price for this unique and original Mesh item is L$795 and it’s available at the current edition of the Draftsman Event, which runs to May 15th.

Cheers, m’dears 🙂

KraftWork and The Last Forever

with 7 comments

KraftWork released a group gift today, it’s the “Suspended Cabinet”… a fine and generous piece of design for us all to enjoy.  The Land Impact of the whole set is only 6 with Permissions of Copy/Modify, and all the pieces you see are also included separately (cabinet, books 1, 2 and 3, frames, vase). This went so nicely in the hallway , the central picture having that “looking into the distance” view that gives dimensional savvy and the rest of the objects beautifully arranged on the floating cabinet.

At the same time, a new sim opened where the KraftWork mainstore is now situated. The sim is called, “The Last Forever” and it’s been made by these good folks – from the creators of West of The Rain, Oobleck Allagash and Nodnol Jameson (KraftWork), and along with the creative team of Kai Mannequin, Brooke Barmy, Rooky Yootz, Triin, and Jack Handy.

I went along to visit and found it amazing.  Really good photo opportunities and a lot going on.  The concept is a celebration of the unique town of Marfa, Texas.  Once a dusty, sleepy ranch town in the high desert of West Texas, perhaps known best at that time as the setting for the James Dean movie, Giant, it has over the past few decades emerged into a most unlikely centre for art and alternative design.

The transformation occurred when famed artist and designer, Donald Judd, left New York in the early 1970’s to set up his studio and home in a place that offered him a vast open area for installations.  Gradually he began to transform the landscape and dilapidated buildings and, with it, the entire town and region.

Many of Marfa’s buildings have been faithfully reproduced and they do give a certain feeling of life in the desert, it’s interesting for those of us that have never visited that sort of place.  In addition, the region also serves as the setting and main shops for the Second Life® brands KraftWork, Big Bully, Powder Pack, Kiss me Poses and soon, Triin.  As well, Marfa Contemporary will house rotating exhibits of Second Life® artists and photographers, starting with an exhibit by acclaimed virtual photographer Melusina Parkin. The Marfa Ballroom will also host live Second Life® performers on varying dates. Well worth keeping an eye on this place!

Radio, it’s true… someone still loves you

with 9 comments

“I’d sit alone and watch your light
My only friend through teenage nights
And everything I had to know
I heard it on my radio

You gave them all those old time stars
Through wars of worlds invaded by Mars
You made ’em laugh, you made ’em cry
You made us feel like we could fly.
Radio.

So don’t become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don’t know or just don’t care
And just complain when you’re not there

You had your time, you had the power
You’ve yet to have your finest hour
Radio, Radio.”

~ Radio Gaga ~ Queen ~

I remember listening to the Top Twenty when I was a kid, avidly checking out which record had got to Number One in the Hit Parade. There was no social media back then, so radio was the only way that we really knew immediately the charts happened,  unless we wanted to wait for the television to tell us at some point.  Later on, this song by Queen wondered if Radio was a bygone thing but even today, there’s plenty to listen to and people still love the radio.

This is all to introduce you to the latest Home & Garden items by KraftWork. There’s a gacha at the new round of Cosmopolitan and it’s all about Vintage Radios.  Here they all are in the picture with suitably retro furniture and outfits!  The radios come in a non-scripted and a scripted version so you really can listen to the radio.  There is an instruction notecard inside the pack, but basically if the land is yours, just hit tuner and play; if the land is group owned, deed the radio to the group before you play.  DJs can also use it as a streaming system, they only need to add their URL to the channels notecard (before deeding to group) and chose that station to play after the deed.

The RARE Big Radio has poses/animations for singles and couples. It’s only 50 L$ per Play.

Bunfight at the OKraftWork Soap Shop

with 4 comments

I’d just set up the shop when this happened!  It explains how I had to rush to A & E to have my head examined 🙂  Of course, I forgot to lock up and the squirrels got in, they wreck everything in their search for hazel nuts. Fortunately, they found some in the soap sack before much damage was done. I hadn’t cleaned out the burlap thoroughly before I stacked the soaps.  Look at the brave puppy hanging off the table barking at the red thief… he gets a Chelsea Bun for tea 🙂

KraftWork – Suspended Art & IWD

with 2 comments

*~*~*

There’s something rather comforting about art galleries. You can sit there and get absorbed in an artwork you admire and find many layers to the work. KraftWork have made the “Suspended Art” that you see in the photograph, you can hang it from any ceiling and, as it’s modify, it will fit a lot of spaces. Designer, Nod, says it’s to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) on the 8th March.

The theme for this day is #BeBoldForChange. You can click on any of these links to read more.

Last year, organizations and individuals around the world supported the #PledgeForParity campaign and committed to help women and girls achieve their ambitions; challenge conscious and unconscious bias; call for gender-balanced leadership; value women and men’s contributions equally; and create inclusive flexible cultures. From awareness raising to concrete action, organizations rallied their people to pledge support to help forge gender parity on International Women’s Day (IWD) and beyond.

But the World Economic Forum predicts the gender gap won’t close entirely until 2186. This is too long to wait. Around the world, IWD can be an important catalyst and vehicle for driving greater change for women and moving closer to gender parity.
