RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 – Aphrodite Shop, Heart Homes & BaZar

with 2 comments

The RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 is now open and will run to March 6th. It’s the largest and longest running event dedicated to Home & Garden in Second Life™ and raises funds for Relay For Life – The American Cancer Society. Read more about it on their extensive website.  As you can imagine, there’s all sorts of exhibitors from well known brands to up and coming designers, hobbyists and professional merchants. Each exhibitor is required to release two brand new 100% donation items and there’s also a wonderful 50% donation gacha section and even a special hunt!

This is possibly my last Expo post but it’s by no means least – and I’m showing items from Aphrodite Shop, Heart Homes and BaZar.

Aphrodite Shop make all sorts of wonderful and comprehensive furniture and decor sets, often on a theme. These include a lot of family and couples oriented sets, including some very cute nursery sets for babies and toddlers. They are also well known for their interactive kitchenware, centerpieces and themed food items. In addition they make some lovely garden items such as campfires, greenhouses children’s tea party sets and garden tea table sets.

The 100% donation items include a magnificent tiered cake stand with inspirational cupcakes, cookies and larger decorated cakes at the top. The double layered cloth table is also included and you can rez this as a coalesced piece at 25 LI. Permissions are Copy/Modify. Other donation items are the two boxes of inspirational cupcakes and cookies. These open on touch and close again to keep them fresh! Cupcakes are 14 LI and cookies 7 LI. Both are Copy.

Heart Homes are a partner company to Aphrodite Shop, and they sell full room sets of furniture so basically, lounges, dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms… in addition there are some gorgeous homes and outdoorsy items like greenhouses and outside tea tables fully set. Some of these are themed, for example holiday lounge furniture, fantasy bathroom, Tuscan country bedroom set. The idea being that if you’re not a stylist, here’s a whole room of furniture already matched and no problem… just rez!

The 100% donation item is the ‘Model’s Bath Tub’, a humorous addition to your home in the shape of a high heeled shoe! The tub is 5 LI and Copy. You need to sit on the tub to fill the bath with plenty of choices – cool or hot steamy water, bubble bath, rose petals red or white, milk and chocolate. After all that, there’s an empty and clean texture which gives you a super shiny bath. Poses are single sits for ladies and gents – 9 and 6 – some of which add props to amusing interactive animations.

BaZar is a well known and long established Home & Garden company run by Ria, whom I had the pleasure of interviewing some while back. A most pleasant person who tries her best to please her customers, of which there are many!

For the 100% donations items, Ria has made the “Glam Closets”, for both ladies and gents. Now you can rez these units separately or simply use the rezzer for the lot which is easier to use when you want the closets lined up properly. Extreme low Land Impact of only 15 for all this F.A.B. You’ve just got to have a wall spare in your bedroom for this lot. There’s two varieties – warm wood and a pristine white wood. I really couldn’t decide which I liked best and I suppose it would depend on your existing decor.

The detailing is wonderful, even a gent’s watch collection and a safe is included. Pick and choose your units or use them all.

BaZar’s Hunt gift is the “GRS Chair”, LI 3, a modern classic with texture change wood and blanket. There’s also a simple version without blanket included in the gift and that drops the LI to 2. There are 6 poses for ladies and gents plus some interactive animations such as reading, drinking coffee and surfing your tablet. Here’s the white wood version by the white Glam Closets and you know you can never get Moz off his computers *laughs*.

Finally, there’s the “Glam Ottoman”. A little beauty at 2 LI, Permissions are Copy/Modify. There’s texture change for beige, leather and softest blue – perfect for various decorations schemes.

Here’s me in a moment of contemplation about… what’s for dinner 🙂 Animations are 9 assorted poses for both ladies and gents plus 8 couples poses. You can also set access on this furniture in case you don’t want some of your friends leaping around on your pristine Ottoman!

RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 – Interview with unKindness at the Expo

with one comment

The RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 is now open and will run to March 6th. It’s the largest and longest running event dedicated to Home & Garden in Second Life™ and raises funds for Relay For Life – The American Cancer Society. Read more about it on their extensive website.

unKindness at Expo
RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016… Prim Perfect presents an interview with unKindness
In the Chair – the exceedingly able Kess Crystal (on Voice)

Interviewees – SL/RL couple Jamie and Poe Cross (Rozenberg) of unKindness

Audience – various reprobates

(With many thanks to Wendz Tempest for rescuing the first few questions when Moz couldn’t hear and was beating up his computer)

Kess asks about the origin of unKindness:

Jamie: I actually originally wanted to do building for homes and garden. But didn’t have the confidence… so I started with clothes and accessories, but I was so unhappy with it, and it really reflected in what I was doing. I was open with that store for a year, and I was really at my wits end. And really depressed, and feeling very lost. Sort of a rock bottom kind of place. But I really needed to get rolling on here and to succeed for RL purposes.

So I actually, silly as this sounds to a lot of people… started doing a positive thinking thing. I dunno if you’ve heard of the Secret? Well it’s a positive thinking guide teaching people to bring to them what they want by envisioning what they want, and pushing out. It’s basically the theory that if you act as if you will accomplish it, you will. It turned my whole world upside down.

Kess remarks that unKindness has a brand new mainstore on their own sim now!

Jamie: I started building for it in March. We did a gacha through Depraved Nation, which was a big help in getting us off the ground. We officially opened in April, so this April will be our first official year. Yeah, things happened really fast once I was where I was supposed to be. It’s been an amazing almost year. Yeah, the store is already only able to hold 6 more new item spots. lol. And I told Poe, that will be filled this month!

Kess asks if there is a genre for the sorts of pieces made for unKindness?

Jamie: Originally when we built unKindness it was meant to be an extension of 7mad’Ravens (Poe’s store)… and geared toward men. Our biggest projects have been the Shanty stuff, and the Americana stuff. But in the end, it’s been sort of a clutter of just things we love and that inspire us. We always like to push our limits and explore new things. So I don’t think this will ever be a shop that can be settled into one distinct genre. Yeah, we are one extreme to the other. A moonshine still, next to science projects, next to tufted fireplaces lol.

Kess asks where does Jamie & Poe’s inspiration come from?

Poe: Themed events dictate some of where we go when we’re building, too.

Jamie: Everywhere. We’re inspired by so much stuff, and into so many things. A lot are things we just want to see realized in world. But also, yeah themed events are really fun for us.  It was funny because when we started Poe wasn’t sure about doing furniture… he does his own stuff but now he’s hooked lol

Poe: I hated the idea of it. Now I’m all like, ooh what can I build next?

Jamie: He was so pig headed! lmao right?!

Poe: But somehow, me, the least likely person, is excited about doing freaking lace doilies!

Kess asks if the success of unKindness has affected 7 mad ravens.

Poe: I’m in the process of taking a bit of break from 7mad while learning to mesh and rig clothes so it’s actually helping by giving me more confidence to build in 3d max because I was so intimidated by the program. Yeah, I’ve made some furniture for 7mad now, too, so I’m just kind of turning that shop into a wtf ever shop, I think!

Kess asks about the strategy employed by unKindness for getting the word out. Prim Perfect held a talk earlier on in the week about the relationship between designers and bloggers and what would be done to improve it for both parties.

Jamie: Art is such a huge part of second life in all ways. So bloggers to me are an enormous part of that. They were for me, the main motivating tool that has gotten us to where we are today. Without them we would not have been able to be exposed to the audiences we’ve been opened up to. When I looked for bloggers, I looked for people who were really versatile. And would find ways to utilize me with other designers. I WANT people to see how compatible my products can be while still being their own brand.

I think with furniture especially it’s very important to show people how it can be used. And how it can be individualized. My bloggers all have such wide varieties of tastes and skills so that none of them come up with the same way to use the same item. Which also in turn inspires me. Because it makes me also consider THEM when I build.

Kess asks how else did unKindness come to be a known name in the H&G world apart from bloggers. Marketing is interesting!

Jamie: We went the standard routes of a blog, flickr, and facebook. And also LTD magazine, and Essentials Inventory have done so much for us, they’ve been amazing. Elvi Hartley and Annie Inspired, I owe so much to them. Because as a new store in a new genre it’s very hard to know when and where to put yourself out there and get attention.

Kess wants to know how long it was before unKindness was accepted as a designer for FaMESHed.

Jamie: lol. That’s actually a funny thing. I was open for only a couple of months. And on the very DAY of their opening for June, I think it was. They had a furniture store bail. And did an open roll call for someone who could make an original mesh item within 8 hours. I called out of work, built a bed and raaaaaan to the event. lmao I was like “they’re gonna kick me out after” but they didn’t, thankfully! It happend really fast, it was a complete stroke of luck.

I’m not a regular, I’m still a guest, but I’ve been very fortunate to get spots there. And now I also do the Love To Decorate event as well with the same people. From there we hooked up with Cheeky Pea because of their work with the Neighborhood event. And eventually we ended up a part of the Cheeky Pea/TMD/Kustom9 sims. Which has been a huge help as well, I think for getting people familiar with us. Yeah, that worked out beautifully.

Kess asked what were the top 3 highlights of unKindness’s first year of business… so far!

Jamie: Top three highlights… one was definitely making it into Collabor88. Which was one of my major goals. We got to guest for the October round for it. The rest has been just… lol. Okay, we’re silly about this but Poe and I are HUGE shoppers. So we get excited when someone we admire buys something from us. So having like the owner of Junk play my gacha machine… made me squeal like an idiot. Lastly, is my bloggers. Who I love love love love LOVE. And they are such amazing people I never would’ve gotten to meet otherwise. Many who have become good friends of mine.

Kess mentions that unKindness have a current contest for bloggers.

Poe: We’re working on ideas for group gifts that will include special items for our bloggers, too.

Jamie: Well currently we do billboards on our sim. We keep four major billboards out with their artwork on it, that you can click and go back to their flickrs. Yeah, and we’d been thinking about something special for them. I think exposure is a huge benefit though. Especially because I always hear my bloggers talking about applying for this store or that, but not meeting the minimum exposure hits they need. So we’re running a contest to have one of their art work pieces featuring our items as a two page spread at the front of the magazine (Love to Decorate Magazine) before the editors notes which will link back to their flickr or blog. LTD from what I know gets around 3,000 hits so that opens a lot of potential for them.

It’s so important to give back when we can, where we can. Yeah, originally, and I still hope to do this, I’d love to do a blogger wall. Featuring their fave picture and holding a notecard or links to their flickrs and blogs. Flickr is a bigger thing for me, I don’t hold people accountable for blogblogs.

Kess wants to know what the future holds for unKindness.

Jamie: Arcade if we can. That’s everything I’m working toward, and to be able to do this full time. So we’re looking at better ways of utilizing time and learning more complex building to be able to go bigger and better. I want to be a shop that it’s impossible to ignore. xD  And to bring things to SL that should be here but for some reason aren’t.

Kess asks if unKindness will settle into a furniture genre or will they keep the styles open.

Jamie: I think eventually I will settle into a genre, but not so much as in style, as much as in what I contribute, for instance right now we do furniture, skyboxes, garden stuff etc. But at some point we’ll most likely settle into one focus and expand on that. I’m really loving outdoor stuff. So that is a bit possibility.

Kess brings up the prospect of Sansar.

Jamie: I think that Sansar has a lot of potential. I know they’re working mostly with Maya at the moment. We use 3dsmax. But yeah I’m all for expanding growing and testing limits. I think that Sansar will open SL up to a new way of looking at sim design. Which is something that really interests me.

Kess invites questions from the audience!

Question from Moz: An observation… when I was blogging for LTD we were told to keep an especial eye out for the unKindness Flickr posts because their vendors ads didn’t look like… well, vendor ads. More Arty, really and I appreciated that a lot because it was that little bit different! And my question… I was going to ask how you keep Poe under control but *laughs*… I’m presuming you both have computers but what happens when one of those computers breaks down?

Poe: Chaos. Chaos happens lol

Jamie: Oh wow, we actually just lost my computer at the beginning of this month. We missed out on a really great event when my graphics card crashed, and we lost a ton of work. So when we upgrades his pc, we went ahead and upgraded mine.

Poe: To be on the safe side.

Jamie: Yeah, better to be safe. It’s hard because our RL job is online, too. We work full time and create on top of that. Creating and all of this, it’s an artistic outlet for us. Like you mentioned with the adverts. We don’t know how to present them any other way.

And on the subject of controlling Poe: –

Poe: Only when there’s food involved.

Jamie: Occasionally he sleeps. That’s when he’s under control… sort of.

Question from eku Zhong of Culprit: Can I ask what RL work… ignore if it is too nosey!

Jamie: Currently we do web publication for international newspapers. Which is a very tedious and underpaid job but much needed. We work 7 days a week from 8 in the morning until 11 at night. Then we create on top of that, which can be very hectic while we’re being self taught all of this.

Poe: I’ve learned to not sleep.

Jamie: It’s worth it, if this is something you love to do.

Jamie introduces Jade Samsara (JadedPanther) who is web publicist for the unKindness Facebook.

Jamie: Wave to Jade for all her hard work. We’re always getting her account blocked apparently!

With no more questions from a delighted and amused audience, that concluded the interview and Jamie and Poe TPed off to do yet more work. Take a breather, folks!!

RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 – Greymoon Designs, Nomad, meshIT and VersaTile

The RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 is now open and will run to March 6th. It’s the largest and longest running event dedicated to Home & Garden in Second Life™ and raises funds for Relay For Life – The American Cancer Society. Read more about it on their extensive website.  As you can imagine, there’s all sorts of exhibitors from well known brands to up and coming designers, hobbyists and professional merchants. Each exhibitor is required to release two brand new 100% donation items and there’s also a wonderful 50% donation gacha section and even a special hunt!

I’ve got four more great designers to show you today – Greymoon Designs, Nomad, meshIT and VersaTile.

Greymoon Designs specializes in creating detailed mesh houses with the furniture and landscaping to go with them. They use original mesh and custom textures to create low prim homes that are both unique and well priced. Various styles from small fantasy cottages to larger modern homes are available.

Greymoon - Treetops - front elevation

“Treetops Cottage” is one of the 100% Donation items by designer Cathy, and it’s presented in a rez box that you can move around. Also parts of the house are separate so if you don’t want the surrounding four trees (maybe you already have good landscaping) you can remove them. Parts of the house are similar and it stands on stilts making it a versatile home for various landscapes.

Greymoon - Treetops - back elevation

Greymoon - Treetops - porchway

Treetops has a peaceful and calming atmosphere to it and although relatively compact, there is plenty of floor space… two decks, double rooms on the first floor and a further loft room where the rafters of the roof make the ceiling. Beautiful light wood with white highlights on the eaves and window frames give this cottage a warm feeling.

Greymoon - Treetops - inside

Greymoon - Treetops - loft

Decorations are included – the fireplace and tree decor on the walls, the porch lamps – everything you see in the pictures. In total Treetops Cottage has an amazingly low Land Impact of 63 with Permissions of Copy/Modify. It would make an idyllic place to live!

Greymoon - Treetops - Deck

Nomad make novelties, games, toy and tentacles for detail fetishists! Designer Pira has made a Hobo set for the Expo and they look great in a number of settings. The “Barrel Fire” has blue, green and red varieties, 2 LI with Permissions of Copy/Modify. The “Makeshift Bench” has a couple of version, one with wine bottles rolling around and one without, 2 – 3 LI depending on the version you choose and Permissions are Copy/Modify.

Nomad - Hobo set - full

Then there’s the “Old Red Chair” and “Old Blue Broken Chair” for 2 LI each, again Permissions are Copy/Modify. These are so clever! Shadow work in built in and I photographed these in relative midday to show how good they look. 100% Donation items.

Nomad - hobo set - closeup

meshIT provides full perm furniture and landscaping for builders. You’ll need to use your imagination with these as they are not textured but I rezzed them to show you the fine details in these pieces.  The “Lantern” is 1 LI, the “Rocks” come in a pack of 5 differently shaped rocks and are also 1 LI each.

meshIT - lantern rocks

Also included in our blogger’s box was the “Romantic Retreat Treehouse” which weighs in at 64 LI. But look at it because that includes some furniture as well! Everything you see in the picture is included on the mesh treehouse… tree, decking, stairs, furniture, string lights – I don’t think designer Iachann has left anything out. The LOD was excellent and if you’re a builder you’ll know how much that matters.

meshIT - Romantic Retreat Treehouse

VersaTile make quality home decor, seasonal items and more, mostly with a feminine vibe although these beautiful donation items can be used in most homes, I would have thought.
Designer Hannah has made 3 versions of “Mobile Mind”. Only 1 Land Impact each with Copy perms.

RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 – Galland Homes, M. Law Designs, Maven Homes

Today, I’ve got beautiful Home & Garden pieces to show to you from Galland Homes, M. Law Designs and Maven Homes.

M. Law Designs  – designer Marcelo specialises in all sorts of outdoors and garden themed sets and homes, often on a romantic theme.   For the Expo, his two 100% Donation items are the “Saanich Deck” and the “Fernie Shed Hammock”. There’s a good male and female animated pose in all the chairs of these sets.

The Deck is rezzed as a coalesced object which you can split up and remove the chairs and decorations to be left with a deck, sunshade and decorative flora so it’s a versatile piece.  Land Impact is 25 with all the pieces out and Permissions are Copy/Modify.

M. Law Designs - Saanich Deck

The edge lights show up beautifully in the evening!

The Fernie Shed Hammock is also rezzed as a coalesced object and you can remove the hanging seats and use them separately if you wish.  Fernie is LI 32 when rezzed in total. It’s full of detail and provides a relaxing place to put in the garden or on a grassy riverside. I took one of the hanging seats and suspended it from a nearby tree. Looks very comfortable!

Galland Homes – designer Robert makes the most stunning homes and landscaping items to go with them. They are often themed and based on areas he’s lived in or visited. There’s a new release home called “Cloverleaf” at the Expo and I include Robert’s ad for that here –  so do go and visit his stand and you can check out the rooms inside. There’s even a garage!

Galland Homes - Cloverleaf house

For the two 100% Donation items, we’ve got the “Outdoor Fire Pit” at LI 5 with a splendid particle fire which the pictures do not do justice to. This is low Land Impact at quite a size, here I’ve got it balanced on a river  bank which gives spectacular views.

Galland Homes - Outdoor Fire Pit

The “Outdoor Fireplace” is another stunning piece with plenty of detail and handy areas for other items to rest on. It’s also LI 5 and Permissions for both these items are Copy/Modify. I shrunk this down a little bit to fit in with the size of the tree and got LI 4 so it won’t break the bank.

Maven Homes sell beautiful luxury homes – some quite modern and some themed – plus smaller landscaping and decor pieces.  Their two 100% Donation items are the “Wavy Shade Floor Lamp” and the “Angled Coffee Table”. Both of these are statement pieces.

The lamp is LI 2 with Permissions of Modify/Transfer and contains a lighting script for various degrees and shades of light – very useful. I used the ‘Brighter’ option to light up a dark hallway here. You can see the spread of light on the wall.

Maven Homes - Wavy Shade Floor Lamp

The coffee table is just a stunning piece and looks extremely good wherever you want to place it. It’s only LI 1 with Permissions of Modify/Transfer.

RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 – CCDesign, [USB] and Little Llama

The RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 will open to the general public on February 14th and runs to March 6th.

The Expo opened yesterday and already has received a huge amount of visitors! There’s been much had at the special events, too. Today, I have items from CCDesign, [USB] and Little Llama to show you.

CCDesign or CCD is run by designer Anton and he works with 3DS Max 2015 and V-Ray programs to make his products. He produces full perm mesh for builders as well as his own furniture and decor designs.  These are very beautiful and realistic Mesh products which are a delight to photograph.

CCD - main

“Tropical Composition Vol 1, 2 and 3” are combos of palms and pots and nicely detailed. They hold their Land Impact well, even at the larger sizes. The biggest of them is only 6 LI.  CCDesign also has rugs, pillows and vases for sale. There’s 9 different rugs, 8 texturized pillows, 2 varieties of triple pillows and a texturized vase which you can have with or without the shadow. Land Impact for these pieces varies between 1 – 6. Permissions are Copy/Modify. It’s really easy to build up your own display as they all mix n match.

CCD - side elevation

CCD - close up

[USB] offers full perm sets as well as their own furniture range. Designer, McChris, also has the Dew Me Furniture brand and you’ll find both of those on Marketplace. For the Expo, there’s a wonderful set of Retro Furniture, mid century style. Two of the pieces shown here – the “Bamboo Decor” and “Retro Clock” – are the 100% Donation items.

[USB] Retro set full

[USB] Retro set - bamboo room view

If you collected all the pieces illustrated, it would only amount to 37 LI. These are very low Land Impact pieces, none of them are above 4 Land Impact. Permissions are Copy except for the curtains which are Copy/Modify to fit all windows and they also have a good 12 option texture changer on them.

[USB] Retro set - sofa coffee table

[USB] Retro set curtains cabinet

This Retro set is right on style and I’ve done close-ups of some of the pieces as the detailing and texturing is amazing. The Sofa and Chair have PG and Adult versions, they are packed with animation for singles, friends, cuddles and Adult poses in the Adult versions. Also texture change for the back cushions – green, orange and yellow options – I had the orange option showing. The Adjust is by Helper poles that you just select and move around, then save. Nice n easy. Loved it!

[USB] Retro set - TV

[USB] Retro Set - video tape machine

Little Llama, designed by Persey Garcia, is all about Kids, Kitsch and Kawaii (cute)! There’s two 100% Donation items and a Hunt prize. “How to Train your Sofa” is a dragon themed seat made with a child in mind but if you really like it and you’re a bit bigger you can easily resize the sofa and adjust the poses whilst seated. There’s a texture changer for the main body of the sofa and for the spines. I tried a couple of combinations here.

Little Llama - How to train your Sofa

The “Lamp of Shame” has three varieties and is one of those talking points you can use wherever you want to! I switched one of them on and it gives a good spread of moderate light.

Little Llama - Lamps of Shame

The “Pickle Jar” is Little Llama’s Hunt prize and it gives an eerie green glow when switched on. Brilliant for boy’s rooms!

The Expo is now open!  But don’t worry if you can’t get in at first, you’ve got plenty of time to visit all the sims. Here’s an excellent shopping list by Wendz Tempest showing all the slurls to all the Designers on all the Sims – can’t get better than that.

As Pam asked for some furniture today, well I have some amongst other things!

Sahi Designs – well I couldn’t resist this beautiful tropical themed “Hawaiian Hideaway Hammock” set, it’s one of the 100% Donation items.

It’s texture change for various themes such as Caribbean/Maldives and you can  change hammock, raft and tube and hammock wooden attachment to palm tree. Other options are Set Access, Adjust and Swap. Lots of animations for singles, friends, cuddles, kisses, massages and naughty!

Here’s one of Sahi Designs new releases – the “Winchester Lodge Living Room”. It’s a low prim set packed with animations in the chair and sofa. I think this would please both ladies and gents as far as decor goes and be a diplomatic set for couples!

meadowWorks – Garvie’s got some amazing pieces for us!

These are all 100% Donation items – firstly, the “Rice Paper Swans”. There are 2 versions in the box. Two swans linked to a prim with a rotation script in it (pretty fancy scripting ) and a single swan. But they are all Copy/Modify so Garvie suggests you drag out dozens and dozens and dozens to light up your life on water or land.

“Rice paper Lanterns” in lots of colours! Lanterns are a symbol of hope, and wish lanterns in particular are a sort of material representation of a kind of prayer (or wish). There are 5 colours: pink, purple, blue, peach, and yellow, 3 sizes S,M,L and 2 versions rotating (R) and not, so that’s 30 lanterns to sprinkle around.

The statue called “Hope” which is inspired by post Emily Dickinson

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –

And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –

I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

Garvie says, “I sculpted/assembled this piece “Hope” in January this year, and sold it at a different event (The Chapter Four), but since i never did get around to setting it for sale after the event ended, and all the sims at HGE just happen to be named “Hope” as well, I’ve decided to recycle/reissue it as a donation item. ”

RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 – Lunar Seasonal Designs, -Hanaya- , Potomac Signature Homes and Edgewood Farms

The RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 will open to the general public on February 14th and runs to March 6th.

It’s out and about in the woods today! Lots of lovely things for your garden and landscaping needs, plus a bit about the Breedables Sim.

Lunar Seasonal Designs make the most wonderful animated items for the garden which are also most amusing – I have quite a few of them. I picked out one of their 100% Donation items – the “Menu Driven and Animated Multi Bird House” is on a pole which you can either sink into the ground or use the circular base. The bird houses are texture change for towers, roofs and stand so you can match up with your existing landscaping. The cutest thing is that 7 different birds pop their heads in and out of the houses. I managed to catch the Bluebird of Happiness here! The Bird House has a Land Impact of 15 and Permissions are Copy/Modify.

Lunar also have such a cute gacha out that you won’t be able to resist! It’s called, “Animated Tweets”. A collection of 15 different animated birds with fruit. Each birdie has a unique eating and moving animation and they range from 3 – 6 LI. Permissions are Transfer only. I put out a couple of these.

Goldfinches Love Crab Apples – two goldfinches (cock and hen) are on a basket of crab apples and every now and then one takes a crab apple and they toss it between them.

Lunar - goldfinches

Black Capped Chickdees Love All Apples – well this one does! He’ll hop and inspect the apples, pecking as he goes, as he moves around in a circle at the top of the basket. All items are exclusive for the duration of the Expo.

-Hanaya- make original design Mesh products that designer Moriko crafts with Inworld building tools and Blender. Using low poly meshes, the pieces reduce impact on the assest server as well as your own client, whilst still providing a good looking product. The products contain Materials so enable Advanced Light Mode to get the best effect.

I put out Hanaya’s two 100% Donation items in the middle of a forest clearing. They looked fabulous! The first one is the “Forest Clearing Birdbath” and it’s 4 LI with Permissions of Copy/Modify. Click the chickadee on/off for tweeting. The water is clear and lightly animated which is beautiful in various windlights.

Hanaya - birdbath

This is the “Forest Clearing Standing Vine Lantern”. It has a Land Impact of only 2 and is highly detailed. Fireflies float around the lantern itself and emit gentle lights. Magical!

Hanaya - lantern

I also put out the Gazebo because it’s stunning and goes so well in a forest setting. There’s lots of other landscaping items well worth visiting the Hanaya stand for.

Hanaya - gazebo

Potomac Signature Homes make country/rustic style lodges, landscaping pieces and suitably styled furniture to decorate the lodges and cabins. I have one of their gazebos in the garden and it’s finely detailed with many thoughtful extras. I put out their two 100% Donation items and also a stunning wishing well that is still on the land!

Firstly, we have the “Echo Creek footbridge” which easily fits across rivers or maybe at the edge of a lake leading towards a boat. There’s a bear fishing accompanied by his bait pot (or it could be honey, knowing bears) which adds to the enchanting nature of this landscaping piece. The footbridge has a Land Impact of 16 and Permissions are Copy/Modify.

Then there’s the “Potomac Mailbox”. Not just a mailbox but it has a couple squirrels and a red flower arrangement included in the piece. I placed this on a large rock and it looked natural as if there was a pocket of soil to support the flowers somewhere underneath. Also looks excellent on flatter ground. This has a Land Impact of 5 and Permissions are Copy/Modify.

Potomac - mailbox sunlight

The “Wishing Well” not only includes the well, but also the willow tree, deer, birds and surrounding flowers. All of this for only 17 LI, with Permissions of Copy/Modify. One of the many landscaping pieces available at the Expo from this excellent designer.

The Breedables Sim on Hope 10 is well worth a visit. There’s information about clubs, types of Breedables and furniture/landscaping to go with them. I put the “Horse Trainer” out by Edgewood Farms and it’s their 100% Donation piece. You can see the stables created by Cassie Eldemar at the Expo, all pieces are modifable to fit your needs.

Edgewood Farms - stable

The Horse Trainer is designed to fit into a medieval sim or any older sim but to be honest it looks good anywhere. The track is animated and you place your horse on it. This is meant to be for ABC Horses and very effective but I was using an AKK horse and he seemed to like it on pose mode! The Horse Trainer is only 3 Land Impact and a great deal.

Edgewood Farms- Horse Trainer

Well, that’s all for this post. Don’t forget that the Expo will open to the public late on February 14th!
