Chez Moi – A Dining Room with a Difference!

with 4 comments

Chez Moi - Leeloo Dining Room - Breakfast

Chez Moi has released the “Leeloo Dining Room”, a traditional wooden dining set that includes table, 4 chairs, carving cabinet with decor, round rug and side curtain. It’s a table with a difference, though!

Not only can you roleplay eating your meals but also playing games such as cards and jigsaw puzzles. You can chat, hangout and generally make use of this versatile, low prim set to your heart’s content. The table will rez scenes – board game, puzzle, card game, breakfast, dessert, pizza, soup, table set, dinner and another option to clear those. The chairs have animations for ladies and gents – 19 animations each – and these fit in with the scenes for genuine roleplay.

Other table options include setting access, locking a scene, a sensor range so you can control a number of tables, a rezzer hide/unhide and reset.

It’ll be suitable for many rooms. Designer Nanda’s own vendor pictures show the set within a New England style room, I used a modern log cabin type room. With texture change on the tablecloth and chair cushions, you can suit most rooms of this type.

There are some very nice spring colours in the texture changers… the tablecloth can also be removed and an additional 8 textures are there including sunshine, sky and tan. The chair cushions can be changed for 9 different textures including lilac plaid, white fancy and cocoa. Also included in the set is a white rug which I placed under the table. It’s Modify so you could easily tint it. There’s a draped side curtain included which is also Modify in case you want to shade one of the room windows. It looks equally good either way around… different drapes attached to a wooden pole.

The Decor Carving Cabinet is a joy. It comes rezzed as a coalesced object but you can separate the pieces to get a cabinet with draped towel on it, lemonade set, pottery set and vase with inspirational board. The pottery set you can cheat a bit with in photographs and use the top row as if it is sitting on the table. The lemonade urn will give a glass of juice on touch.

RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 – Greymoon Designs, Nomad, meshIT and VersaTile

leave a comment »

The RFL Home & Garden Expo 2016 is now open and will run to March 6th. It’s the largest and longest running event dedicated to Home & Garden in Second Life™ and raises funds for Relay For Life – The American Cancer Society. Read more about it on their extensive website.  As you can imagine, there’s all sorts of exhibitors from well known brands to up and coming designers, hobbyists and professional merchants. Each exhibitor is required to release two brand new 100% donation items and there’s also a wonderful 50% donation gacha section and even a special hunt!

I’ve got four more great designers to show you today – Greymoon Designs, Nomad, meshIT and VersaTile.

Greymoon Designs specializes in creating detailed mesh houses with the furniture and landscaping to go with them. They use original mesh and custom textures to create low prim homes that are both unique and well priced. Various styles from small fantasy cottages to larger modern homes are available.

“Treetops Cottage” is one of the 100% Donation items by designer Cathy, and it’s presented in a rez box that you can move around. Also parts of the house are separate so if you don’t want the surrounding four trees (maybe you already have good landscaping) you can remove them. Parts of the house are similar and it stands on stilts making it a versatile home for various landscapes.

Greymoon - Treetops - porchway

Treetops has a peaceful and calming atmosphere to it and although relatively compact, there is plenty of floor space… two decks, double rooms on the first floor and a further loft room where the rafters of the roof make the ceiling. Beautiful light wood with white highlights on the eaves and window frames give this cottage a warm feeling.

Decorations are included – the fireplace and tree decor on the walls, the porch lamps – everything you see in the pictures. In total Treetops Cottage has an amazingly low Land Impact of 63 with Permissions of Copy/Modify. It would make an idyllic place to live!

Nomad make novelties, games, toy and tentacles for detail fetishists! Designer Pira has made a Hobo set for the Expo and they look great in a number of settings. The “Barrel Fire” has blue, green and red varieties, 2 LI with Permissions of Copy/Modify. The “Makeshift Bench” has a couple of version, one with wine bottles rolling around and one without, 2 – 3 LI depending on the version you choose and Permissions are Copy/Modify.

Then there’s the “Old Red Chair” and “Old Blue Broken Chair” for 2 LI each, again Permissions are Copy/Modify. These are so clever! Shadow work in built in and I photographed these in relative midday to show how good they look. 100% Donation items.

meshIT provides full perm furniture and landscaping for builders. You’ll need to use your imagination with these as they are not textured but I rezzed them to show you the fine details in these pieces.  The “Lantern” is 1 LI, the “Rocks” come in a pack of 5 differently shaped rocks and are also 1 LI each.

Also included in our blogger’s box was the “Romantic Retreat Treehouse” which weighs in at 64 LI. But look at it because that includes some furniture as well! Everything you see in the picture is included on the mesh treehouse… tree, decking, stairs, furniture, string lights – I don’t think designer Iachann has left anything out. The LOD was excellent and if you’re a builder you’ll know how much that matters.

VersaTile make quality home decor, seasonal items and more, mostly with a feminine vibe although these beautiful donation items can be used in most homes, I would have thought.
Designer Hannah has made 3 versions of “Mobile Mind”. Only 1 Land Impact each with Copy perms.
