Second Life Home & Garden Expo 2019 #4

with 6 comments

The Expo is almost over for this year, it’ll run right through to Sunday April 7th and has Events on that day. It’s been a great fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, so far L$2,168,000 has been collected. With bids coming in for the Auctions and votes for the H&G Decorating contest, no doubt that total will rise.

For my final post, I thought I’d try out a vintage scene featuring an Edwardian dining room.  If you’re into historical roleplay or just love that era of design, this post will be of particular interest.

The Edwardian era ran from 1901 to 1910 and was much lighter in style than the previous Victorian era.  After the heaviness, clutter and dark colours of Victorian interiors, folks wanted something new and cheerful. Edwardian style was a breath of fresh air and featured more informal, feminine décor with the beginnings of pastel colours and floral patterns. Influences at that time were the Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts movements and Queen Anne styling. Some influential designers were Thomas Sheraton for furniture, René Lalique for glassware and Louis Comfort Tiffany for lighting.

1. Spargel & Shine on Hope 9

I’m using the downstairs section in the Mathilda Cottage. It’s a beautiful home which is quite compact at 14 by 12 metres and has an open plan ground floor with stairs to the upper floor with its tiled roof and casement windows. There’s also a porch out front. Land Impact is 142 and the Mathilda has a versatile decorator menu, so you’ll be able to change exterior and interior walls and windows to your heart’s content with a great mix of texture options. I went with lilac walls and semi-tinted windows.

There’s also a couple of add-ons available, a window seat and a kitchen!
