A Valentine from Africa?

with 9 comments

At last I got the CATWA Daniel Bento head!  So far, it’s been a breeze. Here, I used the 7 Deadly s{K}ins Jager applier (January’s Group Gift) and fiddled around with the shape a bit. I can see it’s going to take a lot more fiddling before the Bento head looks anywhere near my system shape head but I think it’ll be worth it. I’ll post more in detail on Daniel, as I’ve only got a very basic understanding of it at the moment.

What I really wanted to tell you about is that  7 Deadly s{K}ins are going to have a Valentine ADVENT Event in February, so join the group now as it won’t be free to join during the event! From 1st until 14th, every day there’ll be a new group gift to collect. By the time the Event is done, ladies will have accumulated over 11K worth of items including a Maitreya body applier fatpack. Now what about the gents, I hear you say. Well, I asked designer Izara if there would be male items she said that it would be a surprise! She is just not letting on but I am sure there will be!

Here’s a close-up photograph of the Jager applier on Daniel face. I was at the Devin 2 sim where the owners have built a wonderful safari type scene which is open to the public for photography and relaxing. You have to teleport up from the ground to get to the platform, look out for signposts.

Broody in 18th Century Cornwall

with 6 comments

“When the doors of perception are cleansed, man will see things as they truly are, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.” ~ William Blake ~

A bit of an arty photo to illustrate the new hair by No.Match, which is available at the current round of Cosmopolitan and an amazing themed art sim called, “The Gates of Melancholy”.

“No.Warning” is a gorgeous unisex hairstyle (try the demo first) that comes in all of No.Match’s colours; it flows over the shoulders and has a goodly amount at the back. Makes you look like you’ve got masses of hair just about under control! I really like it and have styled it kind of Poldark, a broody drama on UK television set in 18th century Cornwall. In fact, the setting would be just about right for the west country, too.

Other items of apparel:

Knight’s Set by ::GABRIEL::  (parts of a gacha but you can easily collect it on MP in the gacha resellers)

Man Trybal Necklace by *Phoebe* – a long time and underrated designer, go and have a look

Back to the sim which has been created by shelly70. It is based on and inspired by the life and works of the famous American painter Andrew Wyeth,  a visual artist who was primarily a realist painter. He was one of the best-known U.S. artists of the middle 20th century. The Gates of Melancholy attempts to emulate and elicit the feel of the watercolour paintings of Mr Wyeth.  You’ll find spots throughout the sim where you can experience recreations of some of his paintings and you can pose, take pictures and create your own art work as you like it. I found it atmospheric and was already forming stories in my mind as I looked around.

Vengeful Threads – Urban Warfare on the cheap

Vengeful Threads - Urban Warfare - full side

It may be on the cheap, but it’s anything but cheap looking!  Vengeful Threads sale offer for Sinful Sunday is this great outfit entitled, “Urban Warfare”.

I took a trip to The Wastelands roleplay sims to photograph the outfit. I use these sims occasionally and I should do more, really – they have amazing backgrounds equally suitable for photography as well as roleplay.

Vengeful Threads - Urban Warfare - full front

This is a BIG pack for your lindens. There’s actually three mesh pieces plus a clothing layer, you just need to add boots and accessories to complete the look. Standard sizing XS – XL in pants, jacket and men’s basic tank.  The clothing layer tee in earth colour is useful to go under the jacket on its own. Alpha layers all round. A useful set altogether or as separates with other pieces.

A midday shot to see the texturing –

Boots were by Mirus Code – men’s toe boots, watch by Robbish and steampunk goggles by MeshedUp.

The sale is just for today, so make your way to Vengeful Threads mainstore!

Vengeful Threads – Sinful Ambrose

There’s a whole outfit on offer at Vengeful Threads this Sunday – 3rd April – for Sinful Sunday.  It’s called ‘Ambrose’ and it’s in a midnight blue colour, which makes a useful change from black.

Vengeful Threads - Ambrose outfit - half

Three pieces are included in this outfit – T-Shirt which in on a Clothing Layer, Mesh Trench Coat in 5 sizes XS – XL and Mesh Leather pants in 5 sizes XS – XL. I was wearing the L size Trench over M size pants. The texturing is great on these pieces, especially the stylish trench which has the belt tied at the back of the coat and wraps neatly around the hips. The Leather pants with integral belt would make a good separates piece as they go easily over short boots without anything showing – miracle!

Vengeful Threads - Ambrose outfit - reverse

Photographed at Netherwood, a recently built sim based on the UK’s Lake District. It’s open to the public, so please donate if you use the sim for blogging purposes. The railway track is overgrown with grass and I was going to say disused – but knowing British Rail, I wouldn’t put anything past them 🙂

Friendly horse, he probably wanted that apple I haven’t got *smiles*

Here’s your TAXI to Vengeful Threads and don’t forget – it’s a Sunday only offer.

Places – ‘Countryside’ at Habitat Springs

with 2 comments

Countryside - woods flowers

‘Countryside’ is a beautiful place to visit, and it’s on a sky platform at Habitat Springs so the lag is negligible.

Countryside - racoons

It’s an area created by long time resident, Dicky Spad, and he says, “Countryside is a area I created that’s a quiet place to enjoy the wildlife and the peace and tranquility of nature. It is open to the public and it’s dedicated to SL® photographers.. Please respect others while here and have fun!! Clothing is optional.”

Countryside - butterflies

Added to the Second Life® Destination Guide, Dicky has found the ‘Countryside’ visitor count increasing recently, but not so much that its impossible to find a quiet place to relax or take photos. When we visited there was only one other person taking photographs and this was in the SL® daytime.

Countryside - deer

Countryside - bear

Most of the landscaping is by Studio Skye based on the Autumnal seasonal tree sets and water prims for the pond and river. Numerous woodland animals are placed here and there and make excellent photographic opportunities. There’s also a section of cattle and farming vehicles with a red Chevy truck by the side. I took photographs on the Midday setting and got some really nice ones.  There are some nicely animated places to relax for solo and couples, including the banks of the river and a walled area containing a campfire and log seating.

Countryside - chevy and cattle field

Countryside - tractor shed

Countryside - water troughs

This is an Adult sim, clothing is optional beyond a certain point where a noticeboard advises visitors of same. The atmosphere is peaceful with a good variety of woodland bird song which adds to the effect. It’s not a huge place but what there is, is beautifully formed and would be perfect for a pleasant afternoon or evening spent relaxing with friends or as an inspiration for photography in a rural setting.

Countryside - well

V-Spot @ Boys of Summer Event

leave a comment »

Is it summer yet?  Well it must be because the ‘Boys of Summer’ event is on now!  Talk about lazing around in a deckchair watching the day go by 🙂

BOS15 Deckchair

V-Spot  have released a great Tee at the event. It comes in 5 varieties – Blue, Brown, Green, Grey and Purple which all have different print textures. There’s bound to be one you like or even all of them.  Sizing is both in FitMesh 1 and 2, and standard sizing S, M and L.  A couple of Alphas make this sexy Tee easy to fit. I used FitMesh 1 together with Alpha 1. (Pants worn are V-Spot Rock Star pants available from the mainstore).

Here’s a montage of all the colours –

I was at New Brighton – a pretty good representation of an old fashioned British pier and surrounding sea front which is not far off what it is nowadays back in the real world. The group owning the sim has events at the end of the pier which is decked out like an Art Deco bar and seating area – much fun! Windlight setting was – ‘Annan Adored Realistic ambient’.

Here’s a Taxi to the ‘Boys of Summer’ event.

Here’s a Taxi to the sim ‘New Brighton’.

That’s all for today, Cheers m’dears 🙂
