The Edge of the Woods

with 10 comments

“I’m hiding in the dappled shadows at the edge of the woods, watching my childhood saviour. He’s busy working as usual and he never notices the natural world on his doorstep, stuck in the world of ink and paper. It’s just black and white, not at all like life, which can be so full of colour it makes you giddy.

I remember the comforting caresses and loving words when I was young, the green sweet grass of the enclosure, the ready nourishment laid out just for me. And it was more than enough, to grow up in the sun. But there came a time when I yearned for the company of another like me and the feeling became so overwhelming that one night I found a loose fence, kicked it hard and stepped out into the other world.

And I did find that company, eventually. And with that came a whole new family. So sometimes, when we’re out this way, I look up my human relative. I’m sure if he actually saw me I’d be back in that field as quickly as you can neigh. I’d have family but it would be his children racing around with me and although they are joyful things, they can never see into my heart. It is as green as the forest around me, a shining emerald, and it can’t be compelled by any man’s fancy.”

Here’s a couple of close-ups of all that lovely furniture and décor!  First the drawing table and seat from one of my fav designers – Merak.  She makes such carefully observed and precise, realistic Mesh.

And this is an oh so comfortable room that I think I’m going to use as our summer lounge.  That sofa you could just collapse into and fall asleep when you’re supposed to be working!
