Branching Out

I took a visit out to the Little Branch mainstore and sim today, took loads of photographs and really enjoyed the afternoon wandering around. Little Branch specialises in beautiful trees, shrubs, plants and flower fields from all over the world. They are realistically textured and faithfully reproduced virtually.

The new mainstore opened in December 2017, but it’s much more than a place to sell wares, it’s a whole sim that’s been decorated both for photography and for the sheer enjoyment of the natural world.

You land in the main shopping area which is on an island in the middle of a lake with hills rising in the background. Plenty of room in the warehouses, they’re styled exactly like a good Garden Centre would be, there’s even trucks waiting to transport your purchases to your car! I really appreciated all the detail. You have the possibility to check out the trees close-up away from the landscape outside and I think this helps with seeing exactly what you’re getting.

The detail is very good, Little Branch always says that their trees are realistically textured but if you look closely at the actual product you’ll see all the finer details that words cannot convey. For instance, with the Lemonade Promenade tree you not only get lemons but also the tiny white flowers and the beautiful blue-green leaves, it’s so well observed.

Here is a close-up of the trunk of a KingKo Tree V2. Ivy wraps around the trunk and as this tree is set into an Autumn landscape, it’s set to that season. In fact, Little Branch trees are 4-season trees – that means you can click on each tree and you’ll have a choice of textures to suit your seasonal landscaping. This makes them much more versatile since it works out that you’re purchasing four trees in one package.

You’ll get some excellent landscaping ideas on the sim. Here, a Red Poppy Field and Bouton d’or Yellow Field are mixed to give a beautiful and colourful ground cover. In the background, there are dry grasses and daisy fields, too. No more placing individual flowers into a landscape, you can place whole sets of them (fields) at low Land Impact.

From the mainstore warehouse section, take the bridge out towards the landscaped part of the sim and enjoy the scenery! Riverbanks rise up from a turquoise river and they are fully landscaped with animated trees, flowers and plants.

There’s areas of coniferous forest, masses of trees in their Autumn livery, as well as a dock for boats complete with small working boatyard. The photographic possibilities are many, both for photographers and bloggers, but why not enjoy the scenery as well.
