New at Red Robin jewelry

I’m really pleased with how this set turned out. It’s based on the jewelry that Mina Harker (played by actress, Winona Ryder) wore in the 1992 film ‘Dracula’ by director, Francis Ford Coppola. Not having actually watched the film at the cinema, I was looking at a YouTube extract where Mina meets up with Dracula, played by Gary Oldman. He’s a fascinating Dracula, romantic and frightening by turns and Winona plays Mina as an unsuspecting and rather beautiful young girl who is equally fascinated but she has no conception of why she is. The jewelry was not particularly well shown and I was guessing at what the earrings looked like as Mina’s hair covered her ears. But she did wear a hairslide. This is as close as I could get… antique gold and rubies, and it’s instore now.

I was looking for a quote from Mina from the above film but as I was unable to find one, here’s something very funny from another film in which Mina also takes a part, ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ (2003)

Dorian Gray: Ah. The bedroom, Mina. Does it give you memories? Or ideas?
Mina Harker: Ideas.
[She stabs him in the groin]
Dorian Gray: [gasping] If that had been permanent, I’d have been very upset!

I’m presently working on an opal set which I need to keep quiet about as it’s part of our Jeweler’s challenge. But suffice to say that our challenge is to scrutinise a picture of a most beautiful and intricate opal, diamond and gold necklace, and take inspiration from it.  Stay tuned! I think Miss Ginny is working on her version of it, too.
